MY LAST WEEKEND AS I KNOW IT.

This whole week was devoted to tying up loose ends pertaining to surgery - operation consents, pre-op testing , final medical clearance with my PCP and picking up some post-op drinks . That all led up today. TODAY was designated to cleaning the house and doing laundry, so I could have a really nice time of "doing nothing" with my husband this weekend. BUT, do you know what I did today? I did a lot of walking around the house and accomplished not one of the things on my list. I didn't know where to begin...couldn't stay focused...and ended up doing nothing constructive. I guess that I'm starting to get apprehensive about Monday. Very nonsensical things are running through my head. NOT THE FACT THAT I'M HAVING MAJOR SURGERY....but more like, "Wow, I won't be able to have a Peeps this Easter." I can't remember the last time I had peeps! I don't even know if they even make them anymore! "I'll never be able to drink a martini again." How funny is that? I took one sip years and years ago and thought that it was so disgusting. I don't even drink alcohol. I'm not only mourning food...I'm mourning food that I don't even drink or eat! What's up with that? Anyway, I go in at 5:45 AM Monday morning. I will most likely be posting all weekend for support - so someone please be here - pleeeaaaase. Take Care Thanks for letting me think out loud. Diane

HI Diane, Are you one of Dr. Ahmad's patients? Best of luck to you for a successful WLS! Just think, this summer you will be wearing some awesome clothes and feeling like a totally new person. Maryellen Keep up with the before and after pics on the home page of OH and keep reading all the success stories, this will help you pass the time. About the chapstick, bring 2 not one, because when one falls, you won't be able to pick it up and you'll need it. When allowed to drink water, sip, sip, and sip again. Remember, walk, walk and walk those hallways as much as possible. Which hospital will you be at? Don't be afraid to ask for help as often as you need it.

Howdy Diane! What you are going through is perfectly normal, it's a case of nerves but you're doing what you think is best and it's important to remember that! Write everything down so you can remember questions for the surgeon, anathesiologist, nurses et****ep a journal and that helped to keep my thoughts straight although reading back to the days prior i was a nut'bag! Bring cheap flip flops and chapstick and that's about all you'll need! Hugs, ANDI
