Hi David, I'm sure you will get some responses here, but there is a message board dedicated to the LapBand. I'm sure you will find tons of info there. http://obesityhelp.com/forums/LapBand/a,messageboard/board_id,5359/ Good luck on your journey. Rachelle

Had the lap band done in 2003 only lost 24lbs. Always a struggle, now looking into going for a bypass and removal of band. Only needed to lose 80lbs or so but damned if I could get it off. I got very discouraged after 3years and fell back into old habits.

Hi David I have the lap band, and the day I got out of the hospital I went to the track and walked 1/4 mile. Had almost no pain, and never took any meds for it. Hope this helps you, Mike

Hi david, I had the procedure done in 2003, Now I am going to have it removed and switch to Bypass. I only lost 24 of the 80 I need to lose. got discouraged at 3 years and have been trying to get back on track. I fell into my old habits and thought processes like: maybe I'll try some of those OTC diet wonder drugs, or do Atkins again. Who am I kidding. The longer it goes, the older I get the harder it is to lose the weight. Do some additional research. P....

Hi David: I see that someone responded to you with the LapBand forum -- I suggest you take a look at that over time. I also joined some RNY groups on Yahoo and viewed discussions on various topics - again, over time. Another good thread on this site is WLS regrets. For me and making my decision, I wanted to know what "day-to-day" life was like with one versus the other. I had leaned toward the Band because of the reduced mortality rate and the forced change of eating habits and portions. I liked RNY for the quick results and immediate weight loss without restriction. I spoke with a couple of surgeons on positive and negative aspects and, after weeks of self analysis, I've made my decision. My point is that only YOU know YOU. You know what you can handle, what you need, and what your can do. Remember what you are deciding will have long term affects and think about your situation in five years, ten years. That helped me tremendously. Good luck!! Susan
