Can you all shed some light on how long Post Surgery my stay will be in the Hospital? I was under the impression I would maybe be able to go Home that day? Am I dreaming here? And maybe a few of you would be able to tell me what I can expect as far as {{{Pain}}} goes? And what the Doctor usually gives you for pain, if any? Thanks Rocko~~

Rocko- Hospital stay all depends on how the surgery goes. I ended up in the hospital for nearly a week, as my surgeons believed I might have a leak and re-opened me to make sure there was no leak (thankfully there wasn't). As far as pain goes, it was pretty bad for the first couple of days, but after that it isn't too bad, at least it wasn't for me... I took a few of the pain killers provided to me after I left the hospital, the rest are rotting somewhere. The pain killers my doctor gave me were HydroCodone which I think are the same things as Viocdins... I hated taking them as they made me very constipated. (what a note to end my message on ) Good Luck -Enzo

Hey Rocko: 1) we were there two days, in on Thursday out on Saturday and I was glad to be leaving! You're not dreaming see how the surgery goes just dont' sign yourself out against doctors advice! 2) i went home on hydrocodone and haven't taken any pills yet, the pain just wasn't that bad, i did alot of walking though! In the hospital i was on a morphine drip, that was a good friend of mine! Be Well and Be Healthy, ANDI

Rocko, Hun I had the RNY but wanted to wish you all the best! ~Hugs~ I was in for 3 days and home on the 3rd, pain was there but not all that bad or either that I forgot since it was over 1 1/2 years ago. I am sure someone else that had the Lap Band will be able to give you more info. Debra P

Hey Rocko, firstl, good luck in your journey.I had Lap RNY 2 months ago and I was out after 1 day.I was a little uncomfortable but no pain. This was the best thing i could have done.I'm down 45 lbs since surgery and 75 lbs total.Being Italian,my life seemed to revolve around food....it still does "I'm in the food industry" but I enjoy small portions as much as I had enjoyed the rediculous portions I used to eat...Lastly,I love the Sarasota area,I moved to coronado dr.when I sold my business in N.Y. but came back to N.Y. 5 years later. All the best,Ciao ! --Rocko -- Since it seems you are doing the Lap Band, the usually say the day of or the next day release from the hospital. Most important thing is to walk as soon as possible. I've heard pain can be easy (Tylenol) to a prescription for a short time. Since the meds are available, make sure you speak up so you are comfortable. Good luck!
