Hello my NY Obesity Help FAMILY!!!!! Well Dr. Pomp performed my surgery 10/25/05 and I have lost over 130lbs and I feel great. I feel soo goog that I have been following all of my dreams, one of which is to get a job in LAW ENFORCEMENT! I have passed all the background, psychological and PHYSICAL tests to become a police officer... so far! I enter the LAPD POLICE ACADEMY at the end of April, and I am moving to the west coast the weekend of the April 15th. My gastric Bypass surgery changed my life and made all this possible! Thanks to my surgeon Dr. Alfons Pomp and all of the staff at NY Presbterian Hospital I LOVE YOU ALL. I am in the best shape of my life and I am loving life!!! Enzo

Congratulations to you Enzo! I am very happy for you. This surgery does change lives. It certainly has mine. Please be a very careful LAPD police officer. It's a gnarly city. Be safe. Hugs and best wishes, Amy

Jennifer, LAPD's pay is on par with Nassau or Suffolk. I wanted NYPD, but NYC is not doing the right thing for it's pioluice officers. The pay is a joke and so are the conditions that my friends in the NYPD have to work in. God bless the police officers of the NYPD!! They have been going through a very tough time these last few weeks...slashings, stabbings, shoooting of POLICE OFFICERS. -Enzo

Yeh What's up w/ that? The past few days crazy things have happened in NY. We just moved back downtown to 199 Water Street and yesterday there were five Police packed and ready w/ automatic machine guns (military style) standing in front of our building. As a former WTC employee I almost had a heart attack. My husband and I always talk about moving to LA but for us its just too expensive not having a car and all. Anyway. My friend is a retired police officer. He joined the force in 1982 and his salary was $16k gross not net! Today, 2007 its $25K to start and you need a minimum associates degree. I just don't get it! Anyway again have fun. And by the way my son's (4 year old hand full of a boy) name is Renzo. Sounds just like Enzo. He has to live w/ that forever. I'm always corrected his name. Chau

Theyhad a demonstration there - we get notices from Downtown Alliance. I know what you mean about the guns and stuff - makes me nervous as well.
