Hi Michele,
The library support group for Living After WLS in Suffolk County is at Centereach and Selden libraries. You can email Dawn at [email protected] for the exact information.
Also, Good Samaritan Hospital has an open meeting for anybody who is thinking or had WLS, you don't have to have had your surgery there. It is every other saturday morning from 9-10:30. The next meeting. 3/24 there will be a Free Bariatric Fashion Show beginning at 10:00. I will be in it. I've been called many things in my life...MODEL is not one of them! LOL. Anyway, if you make it, be sure to say hi to me.
There is also another group that meets privately at a Selden house, Stacey runs it, but we haven't had a meeting in a few months. Stacey...if you are reading this, when will this begin again?
I was thinking of the possibilty of beginning my own. Support is soooooo important, I truly believe it is the key to success in losing and maintaining! There is soooooo much ignorance regarding the various WL surgiers, its' crazy
Anyway, how much have you lost and how are you feeling?
I had the RNY about 7.5 months ago and I'm down approx. 90 bs and feeling like life is worth living again, a truly magificant feeling!
Good luck and keep in touch,
Maryellen

MARYELLEN,
THANK YOU FOR GETTING BACK TO ME YOU REALLY LOOK FABOULOUS. I am 14 months out I lost 106 pounds. I really stopped loosing weight at 9 months. I have lost 5 pounds since 0ct-to now it seems like it wont come off. I have to admit i do eat more. I wasnt excersing I started back on Monday I have been doing it everyday. I feel motivated I just have to do it. I want more support thats why I was asking for a support meeting closer to me. I am going to email dawn about the meeting. I havent talked to her in a long time. I need meetings. My docter offers a meeting it is all way in smithtown. With kids it is very hard to get there.
I feel great. I have alot of self esteem now in which I didnt have I fit into a 14 pants. I got a job after 14 years of staying at home. I work at boces and I really love it. I love working with the kids. I just want to see more pounds coming off. I know I have to excersise to reach that goal and I need support. Thank you for getting back to me.
Michele
Hi there. As you can see , I'm going to Dr. Braithwaite also. Yikes...surgery is on the 19th...this Monday.
I really wished that the support groups could be more than once a month because I really get a lot out of them. My nutritionist said that the best successes are the patients who continue in support groups.
Hang in there. The Spring is coming and that seems to snap everyone's head back into shape.
Take Care-
Diane
