I was wondering what we can bring with us the day of surgery. I know that things vary by hospital, so anyone who has had their surgery at SUNY Upstate, please let me know. I'm hoping they will let me know. I have an appoinment on the 27th. Surgery on April 2. Dang, the days are going by fast and I'm still in aww.

First of all Congrats on your April 2 date!!!! Here are some things recomended by various people in my support group and I am glad I listened to them. Small Pillow - helps for holding pressure on your tummy while getting up and down out of bed and helping get you comfy. Small Personal Fan - Hospital rooms tend to be very warm and stuffy. I think the Anesthesia also raises your internal temp too. I was VERY happy to have brought that with me. (The hospital will need to inspect it so make sure it is a newer fan) Slippers / Sneakers - Anything EASY to slip on and off. You are up walking ALOT and it is nicer than those little tred socks they give you! LOL Shorts - nice loose shorts are great for keeping your hiney covered when walking the halls! Lip Balm / Chapstick - You get SOOOOO dried out after surgery! I personally did not bring books or magazines because when you are not walking you are sleeping. That is about all I can think of. Congrats again! Lori Greenough

My surgery was done at Auburn Memorial but I will also suggest for you to bring chapstick. Someone recommended it to me and it was a lifesaver (or lipsaver) I also would bring slippers. I was allowed to change into my own clothing so I brought my sweat pants and sweat shirt made me feel more human.

Hi Ying, I can't answer your question about what to bring to the hospital but I wanted to say congrats on your date. I am also having surgery on 4/2/07 at Albany Med. Good Luck! Janet
