Popcorn-silly question

I know this sounds like a silly question but popcorn is my favorite food on Earth and the only food I am really missing. I am 7 weeks post-op. I know it is too soon right now to have it and that i will only eat a tiny quantity when I do but I am just wondering how long did others wait after surgery before trying it? Thanks!

Hi Kier Our surgeons don't recommend popcorn at all for a few reasons. But we all eat it. Just be careful that you only eat the hulls and not the kernals cause they can get stuck in your pouch. Marie

I'm with you. I'd rather eat popcorn than anything else in the world. I do eat it. I'm 11 weeks out and I have no problem with it. Try a little. It's good for your soul.

Thank you so much! I am glad to hear that you haven't had any problems. How soon did you try it?

Not a silly question ....Best answer is ask your surgeon what he thinks. I waited a few mths to eat it but now eat it very often. LisaMarie

Hello Kier.. I tried it when I was about 4 month out. The only reason I tried it then was because my hubby made it and it smelled SOOOOOO good! LOL I have had it a few times since too and I have had no problems. Out of all things I craved SALAD! Can you imagine! I think from eating it so much before surgery my body just craved it. I just started eating that a couple weeks ago and it was like HEAVEN! Lori

Crackers, potato or corn chips, pretzels and popcorn will pass quickly through the stomach, preventing the feeling of fullness...we may then continue to eat and end up consuming excessive, unnecessary calories. My Nutritionist said to stay away from it....perhaps asking yours might help?? Just a suggestion. But YES...the smell is INTOXICATING!!! hugs, Karen

Thank you everybody! I appreciate your help. It makes me feel good to know that most of you have eaten it and been fine. My day will come : ) Kier

It's funny, I was just coming on to ask when I could eat it; because I was just at my 3 mo followup visit and forgot to ask if I could eat popcorn now. I think I then will go for it. Also, yesterday was my first salad and yes it was so yummy; I missed salads as well. I have noticed the increase in gas however; I said wow just for eating a salad; trying to remember if I was like that before; hummmm; lol! Can't recall!
