Recovery at hotel in NYC??? Private duty nurse?
Hi. Has anyone ever spent time in a hotel or hotel like facility after their surgery. I'm going in for an ETT and will be staying in hospital for one night. I am nervous about the 1 1/2 hour ride home and going home to small children (3) and dogs(2). I'm thinking of staying in the city for a couple of extra nights. Do you think my ride home on day 4 would be easier than day 2? Does anyone know of any reputable private duty nursing facilities or a particular nurse? Thanks-Amy
Amy, I'm sorry, I don't have any experience or advice for post surgery nursing, but I have had experience with hotels in the city. My dd (7) and I travel to Manhattan several times a year for her audiology appts and the hotel we ALWAYS stay at is the Murray Hill Comfort Inn at 42 W 35th St. The staff is absolutely wonderful.
My reccomendation to you w/ kids and a dog is to find a place to rest. I had my route en y surgery back in November and I came home after day 3 and it was a big mistake. My ride home was painful. Those bumps on the FDR drive and Gwanus killed me. I felt like my insides were going to fall out! Then when I got home my kids were very curious on mommys surgery. I can't tell you how many questions they asked (they are 3 and 4). I wish I would have been able to rest for two more days in peace but that just did not happen. Good Luck.
