Does anyone else have small children they have to lift?
My daugher is 20 months old and I'm going to be faced with the issue of needing to pick her up and do things with her eventually. My surgery is in a week and I have about two weeks covered where I will have help with her but then after that I'm back to work and back to taking her with me to day care and in and out of my car. Has anyone been faced with a similar issue? What did you do?
I will of course do my best to not lift her but sometimes it will be necessary. She weighs 30 pounds.
I have 4 kids, when i had my surgery the two little ones were 2 and 3 years old. I did everything in my power to not lift them to avoid a hernia or injury to incison. Your daughter is almost 2 and should be able to get around with minimal lifting. If she insists on you holding her , sit down and let her climb on to your lap. I did that often lol....YOu should be ok but remember to be very careful a hernia is not fun. When you have to remove her from the car open her seat and let her climb,.. kids at her age are very mobile and should be able to do most themselves with you holding a hand or someting. Practice with her now....Good luck and keep us posted.
