am I full?
Ok I am confused. Before the surgery i was told that if I ate too much I would feel SO full. Well I am 18 days out now and I thought I started to feel the "full" feeling once I started eating some sort of regular foods but I am not sure. The feeling I feel when I think I am full is like almost if I imagine from my pouch up to the back of my throat, like it's full of food and I can't eat anymore. It is a totally different feeling that "full" was before. So my question is, is this new feeling the new "full" feeling? If not than I have no clue what I am doing. Help! :help:
Kris,
For me, I DID feel the full feeling. Like the fullness you feel at thanksgiving? That's what I felt just after a few bites or soft foods. Even if you don't feel the "Full" feeling, be sure to follow your surgeons directions on the ounces and number of bites.
For example, my nut and surgeon said, 6 tsp of soft foods if I can tolerate that much. Then stop. I don't get hungry yet, even after 4 months out, so I have to stick with my 6 tsp of food.
Good Luck!

Hello,
i am almost 3 years post op..... and i get that FULL feeling that you are describing!
YES.... that IS the feeling of feeling FULL.
SO STOP eating!!
You may also feel preasure between your shoulder blades and chest area.
thats another way that you can tell if you are feeling FULL.
I agree with the poster above...
ALWAYS measure out your foods....AND follow your surgeons directions on the ounces and number of bites.
IF you happen to gain weight throughout your WLS jounrey , it COULD be that you are eating MORE FOOD in one sitting....
CUT back on the PORTION SIZE. EAT SMALL amounts...
several times ( every 2-3 hours ) throughout the day!!
NEVER eat a heavy meal in one sitting.
spread your meals out.... like you are grazing.... snacking every 2-3 hours.
EAT SMALL PORTIONS!
So again ...it is GOOD to measure out all your foods.
and the AMOUNT of bites should be measured.
AND THE ounces that you are eating.
Try not to OVER EAT.
best wishes
hugss

I am just 13 days out and my experiance with feeling full is like a bulge sits right in the middle of my chest where my bra band would sit....you feel stuffed but not in pain. sometimes my muscles in that area of the incision tell me to slow down and breath too!!
Never thought jello or milk would fill me up , but hey- i like it!!
I try to do 2 oz. of protien on every hour (just shy of filling up my dixie cup) and sip the rest of the time. sometimes its milk, other times its soup watered down, still others might be some of my protien shake - but only two onces at a time.
I have to say the majority of the fullness feeling or pain yes happens in the center of my chest, right below your bra band and yes in the beginning it was like in your throat. I don't feel it in my throat anylonger; just in the center of the chest. I have experienced only a few times where your actual gut hurts and I found out later that is because I ate too much and at the same time had a bowel movement waiting to happen hours latter. So, if you are having gut fullness; you may be constipated at the same time of eating. Good luck.
