BC pill / weight gain
Hi ladies,
I am currently on the generic version of the Seasonal birth control pill (Quasense). I am starting my 8th week on the pill. Since taking it I feel my weight loss is SLOWER - I exercise 6 days a week for 1 hr and I am eatting a healthy diet, getting all my water, protein and all that in. I just feel like I am fighting for EVERY single pound. I know eveyone loses at different rates.
Am I just a slower loser or is my BC pill a problem????
Do any of you ladies on the pill - have any isuues / input with this?
I loved to hear -
Thanks a lot!
Hugs,
Britt
Hi Britt!
I am on the pill as well, but a different one (Ortho Tri Cyclen generic version) since a couple of months after surgery and I have had no problems w/ weight loss. I know some people who do have these issues. Your best off talking to your Ob/Gyn. Some pills b/c of hormone levels will prevent or even cause weight gain. So talk to you doctor.
Good Luck!

Hey Britt! I read the article Lisa recommended and truth be told it seems rather inconclusive to me. Seeing as how i'm one of those people who, while not gaining, isn't really losing either whilst i'm on the pill it leads me to wonder as well. I am switching up the pill this month with a low estrogen one, i'll tell you how that goes in a month or two. If this doesn't help with the weight loss, as opposed to the longest plateau in the world then i'm going to try another form of birth control and hope for the best. ANDI
Yes Andi, it is inconclusive because our bodies all react different to each medication. SOme retain some dont, some get increased appetite some dont. As each of our bodies will loose wtih the wls different. I used the pill years ago and did not feel an increase in appetite although i did retain lots of water. Studies change day to day. The best thing to do is to continue on your plan, follow the rules and not depend on what the scale says. You cant go wrong with that. Best of luck. LisaMarie
Hi Britt. Read this article maybe it can help you out a little. Hope all is well.

Britt -
Interesting post. I asked my doctor pre op about weight gain with the pill, and she said if anyone gains weight it due to them eating more, not the pill. She mentioned that women often use the pill excuse to explain weight gain.
My personal experience....I went off the pill 1 month pre op rny , and went back on it 1 month post op, ans I ended up losing 140 in 10 months. I've pretty much been on the pill since , I'm 4 years post op and my weight seems to have settled between 140-145 (30 pounds below goal).
I think this is one of those questions ask one doctor you'll get one answer, asks another doctor you'll get another answer.
