GETTING APPROVED BY HIP/MEDICAID

Hey everyone! Tomorrow all my papers go into HIP. To those that got approved I want to know how long did it take to get a answer back. I'm ecstatic but nervous at the same time. I don't want to get declined, but then again who does. ANYWAY, I hope I get some feed back. Don't give up, cause at times it really gets hard. I've had docs TRY to give me the run-a-round, but I wasn't having that at all. So God bless!! Noelle

Good Luck! Im going through HIP/Medicaid too and I was wondering the same thing. So let us know how long it takes you to get approved. Im on week2 of the 6month diet and exercise thingy so I have a ways to go but Ive heard got things.

HEY, HIP called today to tell me I'm approved. But yesterday the surgeon had me register for surgery at the hospital anyway. I had to give up blood and do a EKG. She said I have to do it again on monday because my potassium was low. I've been having a fever for 2 weeks so that prob played a part, I hardly ate. BUTTT thats besides the point. They called me today and told me I was approved so thats like 11days. I think HIP is one of the easy ones. But S.H. they have you on a diet? Do you have a doctor in NYC? I dont think that is required of HIP. I think as long as they know you've tried different things you will be approved. But let me know.!!!!

Wow so are you saying that HIP didnt require a 6month diet program for you? If not, did you precviously have a medically supervised weight loss plan? Ive tried on my own and with a doctor referred nutritionist but none where documented for 6months. Wow I think Im gonna call my surgeon's office and ask if HIP still requires the 6month program. My doctor is Dr.McGinty at St Lukes Roosevelt in Manhattan. My other question is how long have you been pursuing your surgery? In other words what kind of hoops did they make you jump through? It only took 11 days, thats great. I heard HIP is fast but wow. Good luck on your surgery!
