Well, I didn't post this before because I didn't want to put a damper on my Holidays or anyone elses. I found out in November (before Thanksgiving) I am losing my job. My company is moving my department to Tampa, FL. If I don't go, I don't have a job anymore. Well, there is no choice. My hubby has his own business here and I do all his bookwork, besides all my family being here. We were given an end date of Feb. nd. Today we got an email concerning our departure. They are offering a great severance package, but I would rather have my job. Oh well, I guess maybe something else is out there for me. Anyway, my main concern is having my surgery. Hopefully I will get my approval and have it done before my insurance runs out. Thanks, Betsy

Betsy: I am sorry you are struggling right now. Please consider a few things. WLS is a major life changing event, as is losing your job, for many the stress of this may affect our ability to cope and function after surgery emotionally and place us at risk for sabotaging the honeymoon period, exacerbating a depressive episode etc How willyou copew/ the loss of job as well as food, it can be a real challenge to say the least!!!. When I do psychological evals this is a major red flag as is divorce, death of a loved one etc, typically recommendation is to wait a good 6 mo+ to stabilize then have surgery when it can be taken fully advantage of, of course this is a recommendation and does change based on other factors. In light of concern rel insurance as well I'd be VERY concerned about having surgery then not affording f/up should u have complications. How will you afford the labs, doctor visits, surgeons visits, what if you had major complications. I do not want to be more negative just allow self some time to consider this all and make the most educated decision you cant o have WLS at the most OPTIMAL time for you! I come to you with this out of love and concern, be well in your choices, I will pray for you! Well, I just found out the company is asking us to stay 6 more weeks. I am happy to say this will help me out tremendously. My hubby was going to pick up insurance for us throught the Chamber of Commerce, so at least we will have 6 more weeks through my company before we have to start paying a higher price per month. (My hubby owns his own business). Thanks for your support, Bets.

I'm sorry to hear your news Betsy. It is a tough blow. I know from experience though, that where one door closes, another opens. Maybe this loss will make way for some great opportunity for you. Keep us posted. Hugs, Amy
