As you all probably know.. I've been having some puking issues lately... I had an upper GI yesterday but the radiologist.. although he is a very nice man... didn't have a clue what he was looking at in regard to our surgery. I went to the ER today.. ended up getting 3 liters of IV fluids... and we had to wait until my surgeon was out of surgery (imagine that) at 4pm.. so I was there allllll day long.
as it turns out.. the ER doc looked at my upper GI (with or without my surgeon's help.. don't know) and he said that my Stoma is really small .. who knows if it is just too small in general or if it is because of scar tissue.. can't tell on that exam.. so it is off to Rochester I go tomorrow and my surgeon is fitting me into his schedule for an endoscopy tomorrow... I am so looking forward to eating again.. i am supposed to be heading for full foods in a couple of weeks.... and I dont want anything stopping me from getting there....
thanks for listening...

almost 8 weeks out
Jenny,
Strictures, strictures, and more strictures! Since I had my surgery in September, I have had almost *ALL* of my friends needing endoscopies because of strictures. Even my hospital "roommate" had to get one. And, every one of them had symptoms like yours. My surgeon goes right to endoscopy when the vomiting starts like that.....he doesn't do the GI until after, if needed...and none of them needed it.
Like you, my surgeon isn't close by so it's a schlep, I know, but in the end it will be worth it.
Please keep us posted, Jenny....we are here for you in good times and in bad!
Hugs,
Karen

Oh, Jenny, (what a great name!) I am sorry to hear about your stricture! I agree with a previous poster: This too will pass! Just think about it: In a little while you will laugh about this being behind you and you will be healthy and happy and eating very well. Good luck on your journey, Jenny. Let us know if you need anything and keep us updated. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers!

Complications stink, hospitals stink, ERs stink, not being able to eat stinks...trust me i know.
Good thing your surgeon is on top of the situation.
Feel better soon!
