Hoodia and the carb monster
HI,
I am waiting to see if I will qualify for the surgery with my insurance. Ihave used Hoodia before and love it. You have to be careful because their is a lot of immitation out there and they don't work. It has to have the special logo. I used one and it was ok butthe GNC brand has been the best for me. It takes a week or two but it really cuts my hunger in between meals. I know they say use it 20 minutes before a meal but my body does not work that way...I don't eat tiny meals but I don't snakc as much. WHen I forget to take it for a while I feel it. Hope this helps.
Hi Amy,
I took Hoodia religiously for months before I decided to have my WLS. It did zero to help me with cravings and/or weight control.
The only thing I found that helped was Chromium Picolinate...but I am not sure if that is safe Post-Op. I work for a HUGE vitamin manufacturer so I basically tried everything new that came out for weight management.
In a nutshell: It's all in our heads. We need to change our thinking..and no supplements are going to do that.
It sucks !!!!
hugssss..and keep me posted

Hello all you wonderful people. I thank you for all your responses. It is comforting to know that I'm not the only one struggling with this. This is very shaky ground, this carb nibbling behavior. If I find anything out about Hoodia that's of interest, I'll let you know. Mostly, I think that Jamie nailed it: We just don't know enough about it, and the real issues don't get addressed when we use substitutes for emotional work (why do I eat emotionally? what can I do instead, etc?)
I really appreciate the responses. I don't feel so alone in my crazy fight!
Hugs and kisses to you all,
Amy
