Give Yourself the Gift of Good Health
Lifestyle changes usually seem to come to mind as we approach another calendar year. If there are health goals that you wish to achieve in 2007, make a plan, and look to these strategies for increased success:
1. Put It On Paper. Write down what you want to do, how you plan to do it, and track your progress. Put the paper in a visible location.
2. Focus On the Everyday Habits. Use baby steps, focus on changing unhealthy habits one small step at a time. A healthy lifestyle is a process, not a quick fix.
3. Use a Positive Approach. Focus on what you will do, rather than on what you won't be doing. "I will bring my lunch to work", instead of " I won't eat fast food for lunch".
4. Seek Out Information and support. Successful change requires knowledge. Knowledge is your power to make it happen.
5. Take "failure" out of your vocabulary. A relapse in your plan for change is an opportunity to learn about yourself, and overcome challenges.
