10 Mile Race Yesterday
Yesterday I did the NYRR 10 mile Hot Chocolate race. It was a litte rough as my company's holiday party was Friday night and I wasn't sure I was up to a 10 mile run afterwards. To be honest, I wasn't sure I was up to a 10 mile run at all. The most I had done was since my lower body lift was a 10k (6.2 miles). However, I felt pretty strong after my 10k race last week, so I was willing to give it a try.
Not only did I show up for the race, but I finished it! Wow, the 24 pounds I am down since the lower body lift has made a HUGE difference in my running. It is just so much easier to keep going now. Once again I have to say thanks to Dr. Sterry!
I finished the race in 1:56:08 which is a 11:36 pace. This is a little more than a minute faster per mile than I did on my fastest 1/2 marathon!
I put a picture up on my blog: http://www.losingforlife.com

Hi Mary!
Good for you!! Wow you are truly are a wonderful spirit. Keep up the GREAT work.
Take care and feel good.

Maryellen,
Thanks. It is a little tricky to say how long the recovery period is. I went back to work after 2 1/2 weeks (I have an office job). It was a little rough, because around the time I went back, I developed an infection that was pretty painful. So, it is hard to remove that part of the experience from the overall recovery process. I will tell you however, that the lower body lift is totally worth everything I went through from both a mental and physical perspective. Mentally I can see myself as a thinner person now that I don't have the hanging stomach and physically it is easier to get around. Let me know if you have any other questions on this.
Take care,
Mary
