Question on intake appointments...

I am going for my intake appointments the second week in February. What exactly is the "group" meeting? Also, what can I expect from the meetings with the nutritionist and social worker? Thanks for your input.

A group meeting is probably your Support Group. They ar every valuable and you will learn from a lot of post-op patients. The nutritionist will help you to get on track to try an lose some weight before surgery. This helps the liver to shrink making the surgery easier for your surgeon. The social worker is a pre-op evaluation of your mental status. They just make sure you are mentally capable and ready to handle the surgery because it is a lot of work after surgery. This isn't a quick fix. Hope this helps. Marie
