I had a follow up appt. with my cardiologist yesterday since I finished Cardiac Rehab. I asked him what he thought of WLS for me and after a short conversation about the risks involved, he agreed that this was the right road for me to take. My heart is definitely strong enough. His requirements are to wait a year after the heart attack (May 2007) and that I have a stress test and other tests. He is thinking that I can have WLS towards the end of next year. Fine by me! You know, after others in my life being so negative about WLS for me (you're not big enough, it's too risky, you've lost weight before) I was starting to worry that my Drs. would not think that WLS is for me. Quite the contrary, they all believe it is a good choice for me. Rachelle

Rachelle that is great news. Esp the part about your heart being strong enough. I am very happy for you. Hang in there your time will be here before you know it! Your heart is healthy now and thats what is important. LisaMarie

Thanks LisaMarie. I agree, my heart is the important thing. The great thing is that my cardiologist understood that I want this for my health, not to be "skinny". Rachelle

Rachelle, That is very good news. While we all know you have a strong heart from an emotional level, it's nice to know that it's physically strong as well. You go girl. Talk about bouncing back. xoxo Amy

That's so sweet of you Amy. While I do have my share of health problems, I know that losing weight will help, if not eliminate all of them. Everything from high cholesterol and high bp to knee and ankle pain (and Chris hopes my dreadful snoring) will be nearly eliminated with surgery. I was so thrilled when my cardiologist said yes, it would be good for me. I've got a good feeling that I will get swift approval from insurance also, so I'm setting my sights on July/August for surgery. Rachelle
