question about clearances

Hi everyone, I need three clearances in order to get my surgery. Do they usually require you to have those completed before the nutritionist will set up the appt with the surgeon or before the surgery date? I can't get in for my psych eval until 1/19/07, which coinsidentally is the same day I meet with my nutritionist again. I was kind of hoping that I would have everything taken care of by then so I could get my appt with the surgeon. I know it takes about 6-8 weeks to see the Dr and then another 6-8 weeks for a surgery date. That would put me into April or so.

I would like to say here that every surgeons office is different. IN my case i had to have all my clearances, my insurance approval and lost the pre op weight loss that my surgeon requires as well. I have heard it done all different ways. CHECK in with the surgeons office and see there protical! GOOD LUCK! I first started my journey at the end of FEBRUARY and had surgery june 1.....(would have been may but the date had to be changed for personal reasons)... that was everything and i even had to have an angiogram to get my cardio clearances being there was question on one of my tests that turned out to be nothing but my big boobs causeing shadows!!! GO figure! lisa

Janet: You're at AMC if I remember correct. Yes you will need all clearances in hand and the preop wt loss prior to nutrition clearing you for Surgeon appointment. Can you call around for a sooner psych clearance perhaps? Even if done that day it may take a week or two for the report to come back! Wishing you well. Hope all goes smooth, it can be a long process, trust in the process to give you the things needed for the safest and most successful outcome! Thanks Jamie, I know you're right, I should trust in the process...I guess I am just a little anxious. I was really hoping to have everything done, but if the time is right then everything will come together, and if not, then I'll wait until it is right. The Psychologist did put me on her cancellation list to try to get me in sooner, so keeping my fingers crossed. Hope to see you at the support group tomorrow.
