At my last follow-up appt. with the nutritionist, she told me to cut down my protein shakes to 1 a day for the next 2 weeks then quit them all together. I have not had a protein shake for 2 weeks now and feel like I should still be taking at least one a day. I am eating protein first and mostly protein at each meal. But I just don't think I should have stopped them already. I will be 8 weeks out this Wednesday. Any thoughts???

i cant drink the protein shakes with milk and caration breakfast anymore, i have a protein smoothy i put orange juice in a blender and put the protein powder in and a small can of dice peaches. i have this everyday instead of the other drink you dont really want to stop having protein because when i stop drinking protein i was blacking out and really dizzy. so try different things in a smoothy that works for you. you cant get enought protein with food so you have to drink something with protein in it. i hope i help you out.

Molly, you must supplement your protein intake with shakes or something. I never use milk in mine, jus****er. I like Nectar brand, it's light and fruity, although they also have a CAppuchino flavor. Not sure how you are supposed to get 80grams of protein in without supplementing? I hear people say that but we are right around the same amount of time post op and there is no way I am eating enough to get in enough protein. Oh and Isopure drinks are great also.

It's not a matter of not liking them at all, I actually like the one I had and it went down great. I just don't understand, as a nutritionist, why they would have me stop. I thought i'd ask the board to see what others were still doing. I guess I'll have to talk to my surgeon directly. Thanks for the help.

We believe the most important question is not HOW you get your protein (for example, food vs. shakes) Rather, we believe the most important question is WHETHER you are getting your protein. (and whether it is good quality protein--some protein sources can be low in Essetial Amino Acids) Jerome UNJURY Protein
