Hey everyone!... wow, that was quite the experience i'll tell ya.. I had my surgery at 9am on the 17th and it took 1.5 hours. I don't really recall all that much that day but that's okay... they came in to do the leak test on me and well..let's just say that the fluid didn't have a chance to make it to the drain.. they make me try again later and I managed to hold it down long enough so they could tell that there were no leaks.... then a couple of hours later (barf-ola) again... This happened 3-4 times during the day when i was just taking sips of watertown....
anyway...they took me for an upper GI series on Sunday (yeah..now THAT was fun hehehe) and found out that I just have a lot of swelling at the base of the pouch where it empties...so I'll have to hang at the hospital until I can get liquids to go through.
Like I said,.. I am now home but am having great gas discomfort...it has now moved from the area of the pouch to my bellybutton area..is this normal? I have had my first BM(such as it was) this morning..but the gas pains are crazy.. how long do they go on??
Oh and I know that I wasn't supposed to get on that scale until next week but I couldn't help my self... Last Wednesday I was 261 and as of this morning I am down to 250. I am in shock
Thanks everyone for your support...

Jen,
Glad all is well and give the gas some time, it took me a while to work it all out. I know the protein I was drinking was adding to it also but I also knew I had to get my protein in so I was eating Gas-X like crazy.
Walking really does help so make sure you take little walks when you can.
Glad all is well hun and keep us posted!

Jenny:
Warm liquids such as broths or decaf teas/herbal teas may soothe the pouch !
Gas pains are individual, walking is the best thing you can do to help them moooove and go away! HUGS~ Welcome to the other side!
