10 Days Postop with Dr. O'Malley
Well I had my surgery on Monday Oct.30/06 and everthing went fine. All the staff were amazing at Highland Hospital and of course Dr.O'Malley did a great job. I find it weird but I really have had no abdominal post-op pain just intense low back discomfort. Apparently, this is from the way they positon you on the operating table. Fluids are going fine, but I feel like everthing I can have is sweet and I could really go for something more savoury. I am not hungry but the head hunger from the TV commercials is a killer. I'm on FF for two weeks. I thought I knew alot about this whole process but now that I'm in the middle of it I have so many questions. Well I guess I'll have to keep reading to find all the answers. I know there is a lot of good info on this site and Thanks to those who post that stuff for post-op newbies like me.

Congratulations!! Welcome to the losers bench.
I didn't have any pain either - which at the time I thought was very weird. Now I am grateful that I didn't. Just go with it. I have to agree with you - the food commercials are brutal, but at least you don't have your husband watching FoodTV non-stop - I wanted to kill him
You're right about everything being sweet - I found it really hard because I really wanted something more savoury too - and salt - I really wanted salt.
Don't hesitate to ask questions - there are no dumb questions. Take it easy
and remember to get your water in and your protein.
Email me if you want to chat. Again - congratulations!!
Beth

I'm so happy to hear that you had a relatively easy time of it at the hospital... Not just cuz I don't want you to feel bad but because I am going through it in a week at the same hospital.. I am having Dr. Boss do my surgery but I'm sure it is the same nursing staff etc... I have finally found a protein drink that I can handle.. unfortunately my son and hubby have decided that they are really yummy too... I have to make sure I get some olvatine or something that they can have along with me so they feel like they get some yummy milkshakes also...
Drop me a line and let me know how you are doing..
