For those of you who have had the procedure, what can be expected as far as post op pain? :angstg:

well to start off we all tolerate pain differently and seem to experience different post op. FOR me the pain was doable. I used the pain pump in the hospitol....and when i was home i had to wean myself off meds fast cause i dreaded the taste of crushed pain meds. I think my c section hurt worse and i would say at times it felt like my side wa**** by a bus...but the pain wasnt the kind that made me cry more of an annoyance. HOPE that helps just my experiecne. THE gas part hurt more good luck and i look forward to getting to know you more thru your posts

Hi Anna, I'm on board with Lisa S. I had the open RNY and the pain was never more than annoying. I weaned off the narcotics very soon after arriving home cause I don't like to feel dopey. C-section was definitely worse! Keep us posted on your progress! Amy

Anna, I think for me the worse of the pain was from the gas! That was so bad for me but the walking around helps with that and I was living on the Gas-X for a while I wish you all the best! Debra P

I stopped taking the hard pain meds the day I left the hospital ...1. because the liquid pain med was nasty and 2. I hated that loopy feeling pain meds give you. I used otc tylenol for the pain which felt mostly like soreness..kinda like as if I spent the day doing crunches Remeber no lifting after surgery...also the recovery period is short and temporary.....so trust me when I say it wont be long before you feel like a million bucks
