graber in utica

hi all, need some advice or any info at all. anyone have any comments or experience with dr. graber and his associate(not sure of his name?) . any info. would be helpful. i have to make insurance change by 11/22and mvp deals with dr.graber and the hospital he's associated with . thanks lots..sue

Hi Sue! I just had my surgery on 10/10/06! I'm doing great!! Gastric bypass done by Dr. Garber. He, his staff and associates are wonderful. They took care of everything. I didn't even have to worry about the insurance they handled it all. I just followed his instructions and was able to have the surgery 2months to the day from my first consult!! Dr. Garber also accepts e-mails and responds right away. I always get a response within 24hrs. How great is that!!!!! I wish you the best and if I can help in any way please let me know!!! LC

Hi Sue - Dr Graber does RNY, and I understand his new partner does LapBand - I haven't been back in touch with the office in a few months, but I know a lot of people, including me that think very highly of him and his skills. There's an online support group for his patients on YahooGroups (Faxton-StLukesWLS) - not very active at the moment, but think a lot of people are over here instead lol, and there's also a chat on Monday nights at 7:30pm at http://negloff.prometheus.to/wls.html that you're welcome to come to if you want some more opinions from a few others. With his partner being new to the practice, I'm not sure how familiar people are with him, but I'm sure he's top notch, because I don't think Dr Graber would have a partner that wasn't... Any specific questions, feel free to drop me an email - I know the process has changed some in the 2 1/2 years since I had my surgery, but I'm willing to answer any questions I can.. Thanks! ...Nick

I had Dr Graber (in Utica) on July 11, 2003. I would do this again in a heart beat. I have lost 197 lbs and maintained this for about aalmost 2 years now. When I had my surgery it was just him so I do not know about the new ones in his office. He is straight to the point if you want it sugar coated then he is not the place to go. He is up front and honest with the good and the bad. Which when making this decision I feel all should know before taking the final step. He does have a great support group each month. Good evening. I had Dr. William Graber, Utica New York. My surgery was July 14, 2006. His office handled everything. They handled the insurance and most of the appointments. They must have called my primary also because all I had to do was show up at the primary's office for a medical clearance and the paper work was done and submitted to Graber's office. Graber's office submitted the information to the insurance company and I had my approval on the first try and within 2 days. Dr. Graber and his PA are great. The office girls are always helpful, and no question goes without an answer. I am a control freak, and believe me I called them alot and I never felt like I was a pain. Dr. Graber explains everything to you about the surgery. St. Lukes was also great. The staff were great, helpful. (I had MVP Select Care) Good luck with your decision. Hi I had my surgery done by Dr. Graniero in Utica. He is through St. Elizabeths. Everything went great no complications. I hope this helps. Gunustahowie
