Can someone shed some light? Every once in a while I get this feeling in the back of my throat like I swallowed a rock. Sometimes I feel it when I eat. Sometimes I feel it when I am not eating. It is almost like a knot sittng at the back of my throat. It doesn't move. It just sits there and then a few minutes later it is gone!!. Very weird. Sometimes I think it is a gas bubble and when I burp it eventually goes away. I could understand that when I eat or drink something. But why do I feel it when I am not eating or drinking?? We are talking hours after I eat. I don't get it. I was hoping someone could shed some light.

Well would say call your surgeon and let him/her know first off but I know I had something that felt like that for a while after and it was from the tube they put down your throat during surgery. You might want to ask the Dr about that. Keep us posted and I wish you all the best hun. Debra P

T: Hello! Humm interesting phenomenona???? have you asked your WLS surgeon? A few ideas: ~Irritation from when they intubated you, this can last as a sore throat etc for MONTHS in many after any general anesthesia.... Try gargling w/ very warm sal****er several times a day? Drink warm broth, decaf tea, ho****er w/ some splenda/lemon perhaps... ~I am thinking could be gas, anxiety or a whole host of things in fact....(*Like sometimes for me the more I worry about something the more it bothers me?) It could be a combo of things at different times even? Hope you figure it out soon! Be well! HI I am 3 weeks out and I get it too. All of my friends who have had the surgery say that they felt it...Not to sure what it is or what causes it...as long as it eventually goes away and that I am still able to get in fluids and foods...I would not be too concerned with it unless it got worse, restricts your intake or does not go away. best wishes and take care.
