never heard about that place.... but I'd be a little nervous about going to Columbia.... ESPECIALLY not having known anyone who has gone to them. but seriously... their price is about $15k for the same price, you can have the DS done by Dr Ungson in Mexico. There are a good handful on the DS board here at OH who have gone to him his cost for the DS is $11k then whatever flight & hotel - hotel is about $50/night http://www.drungson.com/eng/obe/precio.htm the only thing that MIGHT be an issue, is that I don't think Dr Ungson is partnered with any financing companies.... you'd have to come up with the money/financing on your own (home equity maybe?) good luck

There would be no way on HELL you could get me to go to Columbia to have surgery. The country is still under a travel advisory as far as I know (kidnapping americans for money), and is still very unstable. If you want to go out of country for surgery there are tons of good, world renouned surgeons that preform bariatric surgery. I don't know of any that do the RNY (i haven't looked into it), but there are at least 3 who do the DS who come highly recommended by the people i've spoken to on the DS forum (on oh and on www.duodenalswitch.com). Dr. Marchisini in Brazil, and Dr. Balistar in Spain, and Dr. U (who sean mentioned) in mexico are not only well known but world famous in bariatric surgery. The cost for surgery currently with Dr. Marchisini in brazil is about 15k and that includes travel and hospital stay and private nursing care after surgery. One woman (Robin) who just had the surgery, emailed us from Brazil to tell us that the Doctor met her at the hotel her first night, just to greet her. He (Dr. M) was the head of Bariatric surgery in a hospital in the United States for years, but decided to return back to his home country. I've never met one of his patients who has had anything to say about him except the highest praise for him and the outstanding medical care they recieved. The same holds true for Dr. U and Dr. B. Best of all, Brazil, Spain, and Mexico are much more stable. I hope you find a great doctor. Scott PS depending on the type of surgery you want to have...there are doctors in the united states who have significant discounts for self pays. For instance (again I have mostly DS doctors info), Dr. Antone gives his self pay DSers a cash price of about 25K, a significant discount from the 40K the insurance companies usually get charged.

Hi. Yes, I've heard of it... but I wouldn't go there. I also had a written exclusion and I had my surgery in Mexico (RNY). It was a little over $10,000. You should check out the South of the Border forum and feel free to ask questions there... lots of people with lots of Mexico experiences. Just remember, if you have a written exclusion and end up with complications, you may end up paying for those yourself, too.... I did! Good luck! Traci
