group in Capital Region?
is there a support group meeting anywhere from once a week to once a month somewhere in the NY Capital Area? preferrably Albany or Schenectady counties... might consider Saratoga or Ren. (I always screw up the spelling) counties as well.
I know there are meetings at Ellis, but I THINK (though I could be wrong) that those are only for patients of Lirio/Clarke.
Thanks
Sean:
These are the groups I know of...

I usually present a topic (realistic expectations, WLS lifestyle, protein sampling, trimming the psychological fat, regain issues, body image/self esteem...are some) and plan on having some guest speakers (Plastic surgeon/psychotherapist on emotional eating) in near future.

Here is all the info on Ellis I have (*I would call to see if you would be 'allowed' to attend? I feel support should be open to all, but then again everyone has their opinion!)

Bariatric Support Groups give weight loss patients and potential patients an intimate forum to discuss personal and medical issues. The group meets the first Monday and the third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in Ellis Hospital's George Wm. Graham Auditorium. Support groups are supervised by a medical professional and feature a guest speaker such as a nutritionist, a psychologist, an endocrinologist, or a surgeon.
Parking for both the seminar and support group is available, free of charge, in the Ellis Hospital parking garage, which is accessible from Nott Street. Please note that attendees may be dropped off directly outside the auditorium door, which is accessible from Parking Lot # 1 off of Rosa Road.

Hey Sean,
I used to be in Dr. Singh's bariatric program. I went to a support meeting at Ellis back then. Although it was primarily Lirio/Clarke patients all were welcom. I keep trying to make it but I always forget until the next day, lol. May be I'll see you there. I really don't like driving to Albany Med cause I always get lost.Good luck.
