Topic: TOTALLY BUMMED!!!!!!!!!!
I have participated in the Vegas Walk from Obesity the past 2 years.(as matter of fact...Val and I met IRL for first time @ 2009 Walk) Dana was trying to find this year's date and nothing came up. She phoned Dr. Teng's office and was told he wasn't organizing a walk this year. I made a couple of calls and found out...there is no Vegas Obesity Walk scheduled. :( :( :(
I emailed Tina(from Dr. Teng's office)...seems that Mountain View Hospital decided NOT to sponsor the event on a financial level this year. While Vegas has a very small turnout compared to other cities...it STILL was a morning to get in some exercise and reconnect with some old friends.
It's too late to plan for a 2010 event but I'm already thinking ahead for next year. I mentioned to Tina that I'm going to "mention" this event to the St. Rose Administration and see if they would be willing to sponsor a Walk in 2011.
Maybe the other hospitals in the community should actually take turns on sponsoring the Walk. After all...Mountain View is NOT the only local hospital with a Bariatric Program.
Procedures are done at St Rose DeLima; Desert Springs and North Vista Hospitals.

Thats why we're here...checking up on the newbies and giving support to all our Vegas friends. This board might be slow BUT I have met some awesome people through this board.

i got home last night... im feeling a lot better than the last couple of days... still feel a lot of pressure in my tummy. Im walking more... i feel like i get full really fast... even with the water i feel like im full so quick.. still trying to get used to my new tummy. the whole time at the hospital all i had was ice chips... i didnt even eat anything they served. just had no appetite at all... i still can't believe i got it done.. guess im still in shock... my initial weigh in at dr. hanna's office was 297lbs, after the clear liquid diet i was on for 2 days.. i was 287lbs. today i weighed myself and weighed 286lbs. i wish my tummy would feel better already.. i still have a drain. still feel A LOT of pressure! anyway.. ill update as the days goes by... hope everyone is doing well!!! take care!!! thank u to barb and valerie for checking on me!

Update: Kimmy has officially joined us on the losers bench!!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!
Yes she is up and walking;walking;walking...but she is having the usual post op pain especially last night.
But she is up to texting and I have gotten a few from her today.

Hi Kimmy! Welcome to the Las Vegas board!
It's perfectly normal to be a little nervous before surgery, but you're in good hands with Dr. Hanna.
He will take good care of you tomorrow and you'll be taking your seat on the Loser's Bench with the rest of us.
***Don't forget to take your chapstick to the hospital.

Before you know it everything will be done and on the road to recovery! For me head hunger stayed around for a long time, and still does. Soon you will be losing weight so quick you will be in the thrift stores weekly cause nothing will fit long enough to buy new clothes....one thing I have learned the hard way is not to sample taste anything you are not supposed to eat. I am 7 years out and can eat anything which is not a good thing.
