I THANK GOD every day for Cigna. I was covered under Cigna when I had my RNY almost 3 years ago at Mtn. View Hospital. My surgeon was Dr. Francis Teng(he RAWKS!!!!!!). I was approved about 10 days after my paperwork was submitted. Whole process was quick and painless.

Topic: RE: Dr. Soong- Anyone had him?
I am having surgery with Dr. Soong 11/17/10, I was originally going to get the lap band, But I changed my mind and I am having the sleeve. I know of many who have used Atkinson & Soong. I was also told that both Dr's are there during the surgery. I am going for pre opp on the 10th. Not sure if I will be placed on the liquid diet?
Best wishes

Carriesb-
It's actually through my husband's work. However, it totally depends on your employer and whether or not they include WLS in the insurance. Luckily for us, the coverage includes WLS. Your employer picks whether or not to include WLS in the insurance coverage (crappy isn't it?)
Could WLS be something you could pay additionally for, as like an add-on to your insurance? Not sure if you could call Cigna and ask that or maybe your husband could call his HR person and see about procedures that are not covered under the insurance? Maybe that is something that Boyd would look into adding under their coverages?
Also, at SWCC/GBI (where I am going) they call your insurance for you and see if you are covered and what you have to do. They are fantastic and maybe they could offer some insight as well.
Hope that helps.

Hi All!
I have my lap band surgery date scheduled for December 9th with Dr. Soong and wondered if anyone else had a surgery with him and what their experience with him and the office was.
Thanks in advance!

Hi!
Not sure where you live... i'm in Las Vegas and went to SWCC (http://www.bandandbypass.com/). My surgeon will be Dr. Soong. I have Cigna insurance.. I currently have a surgery date for the Lap Band on December 9th... I should hear back at the end of the month about the final approval.
When I went in the first time, the insurance company said they would consider it. So now everything has been sent and I was told that Cigna would reply back within 30 days.
Good luck!

I have done the railroad tunnels trail before, it is a great, easy walk that ends up at Hoover Dam. I usually do it at least twice a year.

Topic: 2 weeks of liquids
I got my approval for surgery late yesterday. Today I start the liquid diet. I would have liked to have more notice especially since my surgery date is November 15, 2010. That doesn't leave me a full 2 weeks for liquids. My patient advocate doesn't seem to want to answer my emails and the surgeons office is 300 miles a way.
I had knee surgery a month ago and am in a walking cast so haven't had the stability to exercise. I am so scared I won't lose the required weight in my 13 days. Do you think there is any hope?
I realy need to leave my own pity party and get proactive.
