I go to the YMCA up here in North West Las Vegas...believe it or not, it is mostly OLD women in the swimming classes. I am a good 220 pounds...but I do not feel out of place, even if I can be the youngest woman in the class on some days.

I understand how you feel...as I paid Out of Pocket for my initial surgery in Mexico back in 2004. I had the Lap Band done...cost me $8500.00 for the total procedure. I do know now, alot of doctors have financing available for patients whose insurance does not cover surgery. I even think that Dr. Umbach here in Las Vegas has financing available, if that is a route you would be willing to go.
Dr. Umbach is a really nice guy also...I was not impressed with some of his staff...but I did really like HIM personally.

Topic: Looking for a support group...
My name is Caryn, I am have a revision from my Lap-band to RNY on Sept. 7th at the Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, but I live here in Las Vegas. I am looking for a local support group.
Originally I seen Dr. Umbach here in Las Vegas, but he did not think I needed a revision...so after a second opinion and an upper GI and Endoscopy, I have been found to have Barretts Esophagus, and I am having surgery in California.
I have had my Lap-Band for 7 years...I am worried about my revision due to possible erosion, and slippage, along with scar tissue. Anyone on here in the Nevada Forum had a revision??
And I need a work out buddy...hee hee

It was $40 last year. Some of the samples were to taste some shakes from Gotein, Premier, and Click. There was samples from Bariatric Advantage Vitamins as well as Celebrate Vitamins and samples of the shakes. Blinder Ball Cup 20oz., OH magazine, Mints, Soy Chips, Water bottle from Lab-Band, Step counter from Lap Band, that is all I can think of not to much though I would have liked to see a lot more companies there with samples. I did learn a lot I was around 3 weeks Post Op. Got to meet a few new friends in person (we talked on OH).

I thought it was $40 last year...but taking a spouse would be a little pricey. What samples did you get this year? I was bummed out since I already had previous plans with a Scentsy expo...I really want to try and make it next year!

It was so much fun. Yes it is $80 just for the tickets. Last year it was $40. Since the price is double does that mean double the fun and samples? We are tring to get Las Vegas WLS Doctoes to come and talk. As of now no luck with that but they are still trying. Hope to meet you there this year.

Feeling so much better now that I am losing weight. I will be starting Sept 14 Wednesday, hope fully. I am also trying to get an interview a Martin campus. My full time job is cutting every body's hours. Cannot wait to see you either.

Barb, Yes I too am getting the ticket before in Dec. Had so much fun cannot wait until next year. I am thinking of helping out with it if I can mange idoing so with two jobs.
