Topic: Nevada Medicaid/Amerigroup confusion

I am heart broken and confused. I applied for medicaid in mid August. They approved and sent me cards. I contacted Dr. Umbach for WLS. At that time, I had medicaid HMO. Dr. Umbach's office called for benefits and was told only needed 6 months medical weight loss. In September I got a notice stating that I needed to pick a group. So I chose amerigroup. So come January when Dr. Umbach's office was updating everyone's file then said Amerigroup's criteria is different: 2-3 years supervised medical weight loss. I still have medicaid. Why the different criteria?? I had 2 more visits to go to meet the 6 month requirement. I am physically ill hearing about this. Any suggestions??? I am devestated.

Hello,
I just wanted to let people know there is a forum for the community and anyone who is friendly and want to stop by. I was very active 3 years ago and would like to see it become active again.   It is listed under "weight loss related"

I am not attempting to offend anyone. I understand that some might not agree with me posting. I am doing it to help LGBT people. Everyone has the right to not agree. I respect that.

Walgreens carries a liquid vitamin for adults, but I don't know if it meets all your requirements. THey also have a liquid B12, but again, I would check the label to make sure they have everything you need.

I have BCBS-TX. I think my out of pocket cost is high because of my deductible.

I had my EGD at that surgery center and I liked all the nurses there alot. I don't feel pushed into it. Barbie said that I could choose any surgeon I wanted. But I will check it out.

The same thing happened to me. I called SWLC and had the seminar there and then Barbie is the one that called me after my insurance verification. Basically, I am free to choose any surgeon I want to, however, if I use a surgeon through them I will have very little out of pocket cost. If I go back to Dr. Soong or Dr. Atkinson, I will have approximately $3000 out of pocket. I haven't met the surgeon yet, but I believe it will be Dr. Lyass out of their LA office. He comes to Vegas twice a month. He also has his own bariatric practice and seems to be very qualified.

I just don't hear alot about them, so I was curious what experiences other people have had.

I'm planning on having VSG and have been going through them to meet all my insurance requirements. I haven't heard alot about them so I was just curious.
