Anyone gone through this with United Healthcare...just interested to know if there were any problems or what the requirements are. I have no co-morbidities...Is that a problem?

I have United Healthcare and had no problems.  I called them before I started the process; they wanted 6 months of documented physician supervised effort at weight loss, a BMI >40, a visit with a nutritionist, a psych visit (neither of which they pay for).  I do (did) have high blood pressure and took a med for that, otherwise, I was just on the edge for co-morbidities -- diabetes, etc. and would have gone there soon without the surgery.  My surgeon asked for a letter in writing from the insurance company as far as their pre-op requirements, which they would not do, but I just took notes and made sure I wrote down every detail they told me as far as the requirements.  It all went smoothly.  The only caution:  they won't pay for any labs ordered by the surgeon, only by your medical doctor (just like they won't pay for the nut or psych).
