When is their anniversary? You do know OH is having an event in Las Vegas on July 6,2007. Since your Mom has had Gastric Bypass Surgery too this would really be great for both of you. Check out events. I went to my first event last year and want to make one at least once a year. It was really Great and you meet so many of your peers.  I am looking into going to this one and I want to spend an extra day to see the sights of Vegas. Sounds like something I can't even imagine. Good luck. See you lighter. Joanne

I, too am coming out to Vegas but In August. a month too late for the OH event. My hunny and I are coming to out get married, spend a few days in town and also take in the grand canyon. I am SO excited. I havent been on a plane in 12 years and it was a bit uncomfortable to fit in those seats.  We're flying out from Mass.   and also if anyone cares to make a suggestion, we are getting married outside, not in a chapel or anything. we have our minister but just need to choose where to do it. anyone have any favorite places? somewhere that doesnt have 1000 people walking by every minute

As a resident, I have to agree w/ Deanna- the locals stay away from the strip unless they have out of town guests. The casino coffee houses and small snack places have the best small meals for us WLS's and if you have a WLS card they may child portion it down for you or discount (best to ask a manager before being seated)  I have tried the  Buffett's and if you have your card you can get in on the childs price which depending on the day of the week and which meal would range about the same price as a standard meal price.  Also most of the casino's have food courts w/ welll known franchises so if you aren't sure where to go, check those out. Depending on what kind of transportation you will have (rental, walking, taxi, bus) the entertainment is wide open.  There are of course all kinds of shows on the strip, there is the Shark Experience at Mandalay Bay, the Dolphin Habitat at the Mirage, the Forum Shops at Caesar's, Fashion Show Mall, the New Planet Hollywood and things like that.  If you have rental transportation and are interested in the area there is Red Rock State Park, Spring Mountain State Park, Lake Mead, Lake Las Vegas, Hoover Dam, Boulder City, and The Grand Canyon for a day trip. Getting married outside also depends on your transportation.  I've seen some of the chapels with outside gardens and some are secluded so you don't feel like a LV Strip side show.  Check the internet and see if they have pictures.  If you will have rental transportation, I've seen many couples getting married just outside Red Rock Park in Summerlin.  It is a beautiful place but you will have road traffic who will be able to see you.  I dont know if you have to get permission or not because the area I've seen it done at is just above a public rest stop. Best of Luck to you and I hope you enjoy your trips!

If we all did the things we are capable of, we would astound ourselves.
