I am still trying to figure out how to come up with 10,000 USD to go to Mexico. I figure with the flight that will be the rough cost of going there.

I have been in contact with Rachel Densmore and she told me they have only brought in 50 new patients since March of 2010 and didn't think they were going to see any more new patients until June. Now figuring that out, 50 patients in 1 year and over 2000 on the waiting list. I am at the bottom of the list as I was only referred in March 2010. That is over a five year wait isn't it?

My BMI is 44.6, I have sleep apnea, depression, chronic lower back pain and a family history of heart disease. This all went in with my referral and it hasn't made a difference. Yay for our medical system. People will die waiting for their surgeries.

I was wondering if anyone here has had their surgery out of the Country? I am researching hospitals in Mexico and financing for the surgery. If anyone else has done this, I sure would like to hear about your experience and recovery.

So glad to hear that things are finally working out! Yeah you don't have to have your spleen removed and hopefully you can get in to see Dr Ellesmere quickly

Thanks, I just have to get back on track with losing a few more pounds. I actually stayed the same since I was there in Nov. I had so much going on that I couldn't keep on track. I lost my Dad on March 17th.and that was bad. My hubby is having surgery soon too. He has been waiting for nearly 3 years now. He goes to see the anastegologist (I know it is spelled wrong but you know what I mean) on June 2nd. in Antigonish and we will know when he has to go up there for his operation. He will be in the hospital for 3 weeks and than recoup at home. so I hope mine is before his. cos we have 2 ig dogs and a puppy to look after and my son will be here when he can to help. OK enough said...thanks everyone.

Wow, how crazy is that huh? 60-80 surgeries per year. Man, we need to raise some governmental awareness or something.... Yeah I had my doc send Dr. Ellsmere's office the information via fax.

Topic: Only 60 to 80 surgeries per year!!

I finally got an email from Deanne Ortman and she said they found my referral. The bad news is they have 2000 on their list and only do 60 to 80 surgeries per year!! She also told me to get my doctor to send an update if there has been any health changes. Has anyone done this ? I have been diagnosed with severe sleep apnea so I guess I should send an update. Oh I love my new slleep machine BTW!
