Carly,
Maybe it's time for you and I to start knocking some heads in there!!!
I have tried and tried my damnest to get some attention to this. I'm willing to go in there and see what the hell is going on, but it seems nobody wants to step on their toes at the clinic. Well I have nothing to fear or lose and I feel unless something gets said, they'll just keep doing as they please!
I don't think that is right that they can hold people's lives in their hands. And I also don't think the nutritionist should be part of a job with some weight loss program that costs thousands of dollars. She said my support group would be conflict of interest........I think THAT IS MORE OF A CONFLICT!!! Especially when she is suggesting waiting patients to sign up and pay---does she get commission for recruiting! Hmmm?!!
Well you all know how I feel, maybe it's because I'm on the neutral ground and see things differently, but what I do see is DEFINITELY NOT A GOOD WORKING SYSTEM!!
FYI: Up until this year I had owned and operated an outsourcing administrative business, my job as a specialists was to go into businesses that were being micro-managed or red-flagged and fix up their books & administration. My business partner and I also provided services to set up organizational structure programs for these clients and teach all the staff how to properlly run their office with these plans in place. ........From what I hear, this clinic is in dire need of a structural plan to make it work! No company, especially in our Health Care facilities should ever be losing patients referrals!!!! Isn't this supposed to be protected confidential documents??!!!!!
I just read an article last night that in Ontario someone wrote to their Ombudsman and not only did he sit up and pay attention, but actually got involved with fixing their wait times! Here's the link for NS's Ombudsman: www.gov.ns.ca/ombu/how-we-can-help.htm
Let's kick some butt Carly!!!

Hi there,
Just to note, as I am the creator of said video, I am just in Fredericton NB temporarily. I am a NS resident though. I just came here for a small bit of time for educational purposes. I was advised from MSI not to apply for a NB medicare.
What was very disturbing to me a few weeks ago, people were calling their office and hearing that they didn't even have their referrals anymore. Some had been lost. How or why, I don't know. They had even lost mine until I called and helped them find me in a pile of charts apparently.
I totally get your frustration. My mother is on an 11 year waiting list in another province. I think a lot of people will agree with you in that the process is somewhat unorganized. I don't know what they explicitly do in their selections but it would be a good question to ask them.
All the best and with much respect!
Chris :)

I jus****ch on here... So many people waiting to be seen, over 2000 patients all alike on a waiting list.... for what can amount to decades.
Then I watch a video recently posted, with the patient living in Fredericton -- referral sent August 2010, and is 'invited' to the information session in June 2011. The word 'invited' irks me so much. 'Invited' to a chance at a new, healthier life?' Why does someone need to be 'invited' to be actively seeking a necessary medication intervention to become a healthy, living person again. Who at Capital Health decides who gets the special 'invitations' and who is shut out at the gate?
If we were all drug addicts or alcoholics, we could have immediate care right at this moment if need be. Because we're fat.. we wait on a waiting list that keeps building while we rot... or die...
What about the patients who were referred in the 1990s to 2010 *****side in this province?
Don't get me wrong -- I celebrate and am happy for those who are the 'chosen ones'. I just really believe that people who have waited forever on the lists for the province they reside in should be seen before people coming from other provinces.
People on here a few weeks ago were signing petitions, offering to volunteer their services to Capital Health -- I wanted to scream -- "Shake your heads".
It's not that they're bombarded, and are unable to do their jobs. WLS is elective surgery and is only booked so much OR time. Two surgeries a week is standard for any province in NS because it is an elective surgery.
It is Obesity Networks way of chosing people that needs to be looked into. Nothing there makes sense. Primary list by co-morbidities, secondary list alphabetically. People out of province seen to before local, people with no co-morbities being operated on before the primary list people. Nothing adds up. There is no rhyme or reason -- people are hand-chosen and that is what makes it unfair.
I just believe that how they treat patients waiting, and how they hand select those they choose to help is rather ****ty. If there was a petition circulating that would get out outside agency to review that, I'd rally for signatures every waking moment of my day.

Topic: RE: Stage three diet
It certainly isn't a mistake -- Dianne told me the same thing, only said to go on it indefinitely. She said that one of the patients waiting for WLS took it upon himself to go on the Stage 3 liquid diet, and actually now is no longer in need of WLS.
It really isn't a viable option for people. We're suffering from this disease because of the amounts we eat. Going on a 600 to 800 cal liquid diet indefinitely is not a solution. It's rude, lacking compassion and at a total disregard for the struggles we face.
But I guess.. if she acts like a total B**ch to people who call for an update on when they may hear word of being cared for after many many years of waiting, it will deter them from calling back again. Certainly worked for me.
