How do you get into the info session.  I was referred to Dr. Ellismere March 4 2010, I am on a long waiting list.

You have to get referred to Dr. Ellsmere by your family doc & then you get put on the waiting list... once your name comes up (from the waiting list) they will send you a letter inviting you to the info session.  At the info session they will give you instructions to follow until you get to meet with the WLS team.  I know it's a looong wait, but at least you have done what you need to do to get the ball rolling...  At the info session they will tell you to go to the following link & print off all of the WLS handouts and study that material... Here is the link:

Meantime, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask here - we have all been (or are in) your shoes!  There are also a couple of support groups - one in Truro (on Feb 19) and one in Sackville (on Feb 28) - you are more than welcome to attend if you are interested.  There is also a Facebook site for the support groups (it is a closed page so your other FB friends can't see that you're a member)

Hope this helps!  :)

I was referred to Dr. Ellsmere March 4 2010.  I was talking to Diana last summer and she had told me I had at least a 2 year wait.  Two years is a long time or really seems like a lifetime to me.

How often are the WLS clinics?  Are they once a year?  If so the people who are invited to join are the people who will go for surgery soon?

I was put on the list over 3 years ago, attended a WLS clinic last Aug. and have a one on one appt. tomorrow.  The information session doesn't guarantee anything, it's to give you information and taken from there.  Between the clinic & my first appt. is 7 months.

I think they have the clinics once or twice per year.  The people who are invited are the ones that go on the list for surgery...  I know there are people here who know more about this than I do though - where is everyone???  :S
