Vitamins!!!

Okay - ladies ... I need some help with getting my vitamins.

I have now tried two kinds of Jameson multi vitamins and another one whose name escapes me just now, but that I bought in the Super Store's health food section. They vary in the timing, but all three make me vomit within 10 - 30 minutes. It seems as soon as the tablet starts to break apart, I am running for a commode.

I don't think I need to point this out, but vomiting is a pretty scary enter prize after having a stitch line replace one whole side of your stomach wall - no?

I have had to go back to chewable kids vitamins (I figure they are better than nothing, but they taste sickening) but I doubt very much they can provide the level of vitamins required to maintain an adult that is eating a fraction of what a "normal" one would ... am I wrong in thinking this?

Has anyone else experienced this?

On a more positive note, I am officially 10.5 lbs away from half of my goal! YAY! I not only got into, but WORE a pair of size 18 jeans yesterday. Hear me, peeps - SIZE 18 JEANS!!! This is from 24 wide STRETCHY pants just 11 short (well ... that is a relative term) weeks ago.

I have to say that after feeling so discouraged for the past week or so, THAT was a nice treat right there!

Any thoughts on the vitamins? Anyone? Anyone?

i can't do adult vitamins either.  they make me very sick!  I take 2 Flintstones instead, and so far, so good!  First bloodwork was fine - let's hope it holds!  For the taste, i always follow the flinstones with the delicious vitamin D chewable!

I'm just wondering what time of day you take your vitamins.
I take all of mine all when I am on my way to bed.  (multi, vit d, e and I just added a calcium).
I do find if I read too long after I take them before falling asleep, I do get a bit nauseous and feel like I might throw up.  I just make sure now I go to sleep not long after taking them!

I take mine with breakfast as on an empty stomach I get nauseated or get heartburn

I don't think I can offer any help with the brand of vitamins, just keep trying different ones until you find one you can stand - but keep the others in the cupboard because the farther out you get, the better you can tolerate everything!  If you're taking more than one (like multi, D, B12, etc...) try to take some with breakfast, some with lunch & some with supper.  If it's just the multi, maybe try taking it at different times of the day.  Maybe even try taking them with different drinks - try milk, water, protein shake, etc...  you never know, it might make the difference!  Our sleeves can be pretty fussy for the first while - I felt nauseous if I tried to drink plain water, but I could drink anything else with no problem!  I couldn't stand to swallow pills for the first couple of months - everything got stuck in my throat, but now I can take them just like I did pre-surgery  :)  Hang in there!

Wow - 10 lbs away from the 1/2 way point - that's a HUGE milestone!!!  Congrats!!!  Don't get too attached to those jeans - in a few days they will be falling off of you too!!  WOOHOO!!!

You could try adult chewable vitamins like, Jamieson Vita-Vim Chewable Adult Multivitamins, Centrum Adult Chewables or One A Day VitaCraves Gummies.  Something else you may want to try, crush your multivitamin and put it into a protein drink. It makes it easier for the body to breakdown and absorb.  Hope this helps.
