It is terrible feeling when the bowels become backed up and you definitely feel uncomfortable.  I went to the doctor for some relief.

when did you have surgery?  Are you still on liquid, mushies or stage 5?

Thanks for replyng back, unforunately I have not have any surgery yet, just with this 1200 calorie diet which is very strict, you do not get much fibre, so my bowels got backed up and it also hurt when I was having bowel moevements.  Trust me, it is not a nice feeling.

Yes, the bowel movements are going to hurt for a while.  You may have to go to a stool softener.  Believe me, we have all had the problem!  Sometimes I was like, man, I don't want to go poop because it is gonna hurt!  lol
You've got the salad and the piece of fruit for your fibre.
Maybe add some prune juice or something each day to help the bm's along.

Thanks, after going to see the doctor, he recommended I add 3 tbsp of bran buds each day to help me have better bowel movements from now on.  Plus I am also gong to start using a stool softener so it will not hurt so much.  Again thanks.

Miserable problem!!  I take a stool softener daily plus I started adding Benefibre to everything I drink - you can't taste it & it really helps!  (I've tried some of the generic brands but they don't dissolve as well - and the PC brand one doesn't dissolve at all!!!)  Mostly if I'm on the go I grab a bottle of water & add a Crystal Light & a tablespoon of Benefiber to it - it really does help (they also have the benefiber already mixed with a crystal light type powder for 'on the go' drinks - they're not bad!).  The prune juice helped me too, but I found it was so high in sugar that I just switched to eating 3 prunes/day.  I also take a stool softener & have a little bit of fiber one cereal every now & again (which is higher in fiber than bran buds, I believe)  Don't forget to drink a ton of water so the fiber can do it's job!  I've heard others say they use milk of magnesia but I haven't tried it yet (it's in my cupboard in case I need it though!).  Hang in there, this too shall pass!!!  lol

Thanks Angie for the quick reply, I did go to the doctor, and he said to use 3tbps of bran buds with my protein drink every day, as well as the stool softener, Senokot which is a natural stool softener and I will not become addicted to this stool softener, like other stool softeners.  I am glad to hear that this will pass, it was a miserable time when you are backed up with stool and cannot move any.

Just a quick note to let you know that the Milk of Magnesia really does work - tried it yesterday...
