Hello Everyone,

I had my VSG surgery on Feb 23/10 with Dr.  Ellsmere.  I am now down 48 lbs (pre and post op) and am so very happy with my progress to date!!
Was happy to find this section with local people in the same situation.  Have been enjoying reading the posts.
I do have to say Thank God the liquid diet is done!  lol

Wow, you lost a great amount before surgery!  I didn't see Diana and Janet until my 6 week mark so I transitioned to some soft foods before I saw them.

It should be all listed in your print outs from the Obesity Network stuff with Diana and Janet.
At 4 weeks, I progressed to Stage 4, soft/pureed foods.  I had eggs a few times first and then progressed from there.  I was pretty full with one egg adn a little grated melted cheese in it.

Congrats to you both, you are doing wonderful.

The first months are definitely the hardest, the transition of what to eat, what works best for you, what you can and sometimes can't tolerate, it's all a learning process for each of us as our new tummy heals and we figure all this out.

I am almost 11 month post-op and haven't been this happy or healthy in over 20 years.  It's an amazing journey.

Smiles,

Nadine

Hi Oakley,

You had your surgery the week before mine and I've lost 45 lbs pre and post op.  It's great isn't it?  Congratulations!

My latest difficulty has been in swallowing the calcium carbonate capsules.  I had one semi-stuck the other night and my mouth was watering and I thought I was going to throw-up but with deep breathing, it eventually went down.  Awful feeling...  Wish they weren't so big.  I'm thinking of ordering some of the bariatric chews to make it easier.  What do you use?

Hi,

Not sure if we had the same doctors, butmine recommend the calcium citrate for us...I take Citracal Calcium Citrate Petites with Vitamin D...Easy to swallow, never have gotten stuck..

Take care..

Donna
