Surgery Completed and I'm feeling fine

Well, here it is, Friday (mar 19th).  Surgery was done on Tuesday and took exactly 2hrs.  Wasn't nervous at all and everyone was great to me.  Just recall them telling me they would give me something to put me out and ...wham...I was gone.  Woke up couple of hours later in recovery with minimal pain, 7 new holes in my abdomen and some queasiness.  Once they gave me something for that, I was good.  So, except for tenderness and trying to get around with an IV pole....I was mobile.  Pretty much slept through that day, but every day better than the one before.

So, surgery Tuesday, got out on Thursday around 1pm - I'd say that's pretty good.

If anyone has questions, please don't hesitate to ask...I've (so far) found this to be a very postive experience.

Am doing great, thanks for asking.   A huge CONGRATS on getting your date , it will be so worth it.  Keep positive thoughts and good friends around you.

It will be a week tomorrow, have no complaints and 11lbs less to talk about.  Am managing okay on liquids, but getting the protein in is tricky.  If I can tell you anything is that I was nervous too and thought twice about surgery, but as everything has gone so well....know it was one of the best decisions ever had to make.

I was very hungry prior to surgery especially knowing I wouldn't have access to anything "chewable" for some time.  I found myself having something good maybe once a week..kind of like the "last supper"....lol

and nope, never had a drainage tube.  I feel so good it's crazy.  1 week today and all i have is a little tightness in my belly where the staples are.  I do find it hard to get all the liquid and proteins in though....I either forget or am just not hungry....but giving it my best shot.

I agree with you and bad habits....it's very hard to stop them even though everyone tells you it's easy.  Don't think they have been in our shoes.  Believe me, what I wouldn't do for just 1 cheesie....lol

moderation is the key unless you can go cold turkey.....at least with moderation you have accomplished one challenge and then can work from there.  Willpower was never high in my life skills....

You can do it...lots of people have faith in you and you must have it in yourself...

pre-op didn't have me doing anything...more of a check up for all you'll run across in surgery...

bloodwork, EKG, chat with nurse and with anasethiologist..(i can't spell that word..lol)
they told me 2-4 hrs, but i was done in 2 hrs.
