It's kind of funny to see people on the Ont board upset that they have to wait two months...

for their consult with surgery about a month after that.  I am going to my dr on Wednesday and expect to wait, what 3-4 years.  If I had 15,000$ to pay out of pocket I would.  I feel like I am waiting for my life to start.  @ least MSI will now cover it.  I guess that's a start.

Hi Katt

Yes I know I frequent the Ontario board often and it seems like they live in a different country........ their provincial healthcare pays for out of country surgeries so they dont have to wait too long...... wow how profound!

We can get msi to cover surgery in NB but they are waiting just as long as NS so that to me is not big bonus!

Last year after going thru all the red tape I figured basically I was looking at 5 or more years....... so I had to make a decision - wait or live - my health would not have allowed 5 years.........

So I ended up self paying and going to Montreal for surgery for my RNY on June 10/08.......... the financial burden of doing this has been difficult but at least now I will see my daughter grow up - I can now participate in life and stop watching from the side lines.

I hope and pray your journey will be swift and the NS government puts more money into the healthcare system and more surgeries will be performed monthly making the list shorter.

Take Care,
deb

I had my name put on the surgery list for Ontario about 3 years ago.  I'm still waiting to hear.  Took matters into my own hand and went to the States for surgery.  My health is improving and I'm doing okay.  My friend waited only 2 years in Ontario before she had her surgery.  The wait times are getting shorter, but it's nowhere close to 3 months unless you go elsewhere.
