After the referral, then what???

I got my doctor to send in the referral last Wednesday. Now what? How do I go about getting approval from MSI, or does that come with the Clinic appointment whenever that is. Am I suppose to be actively dieting during this wait, or what. Any suggestions, experiences, etc would be appreciated. Thanks, Donna

Sorry that you have not received an answer yet. I am from NB so I can't tell you about the approval  process in NS, but I think there should answers to some of you questions by reading older posts. What proceedure are you asking for? You are not expected to diet until after you see the doctor. You will have to go on a liquid diet to shrink your liver the last couple of weeks before surgery. The big thing is not to gain weight between the consultation and the surgery or it will be cancelled. There are a couple of surgeons in Halifax doing some procedures but others are still done by Dr Beausoleil in Moncton.  The wait for Dr B has historically been LOOOOONG.  I have been waiting almost 4 years. Dr Ellis in Halifax, (I think that is the name) does not do wait lists, so when you see him, you are then booked. I hope this answers some of your questions.

Oh one more thing- you may find out a lot more info on the Forums (above on blue) dedicated to the type of surgery you are interested in. There are a lot more people posting, but they are from all over North America.
