It's on San Antonio and Louisiana - pretty easy to find. We're in the northernmost building. We meet at 6:30 on the first and third Wednesdays. I think there are a few people that struggle with RA - me being one of them. I do ok if I eat sensibly (protein first, etc.), but don't do so well if I have carbs or sugar first. Would love to meet you!
You are quite a ways out. How have you done with your weight loss? I'm only 2 years out and not quite at my own goal. Would love to lose another 15-20 lbs. Not sure if that will happen though. It scares me to death to think about gaining! I know it happens - I just don't want it to happen to me! :o)

Name is not familiar to me where is Grace Church? Now that I am 5 years out and still struggling with the reactive hypoglyemia, I would like to know how others are dealing with it. Thanks for the information.

I had Dr Acosta, he was wonderful. The problem I had was the follow up. I developed a blood sugar issue 9 months post op and after repeated calls and eventually a filed complaint with the administrator there, I gave up and have not returned for a follow up. My local primary doctor (Dr. James Houle) takes good care of me. The surgery was text book perfect though. Hope this helps.

Yes. I guess that happens with groups. Currently, there are quite a few of us that are 2-4 yrs out. As always, there are newbies, so we try to meet their needs first. I don't know Janel or Jay. I think the person that is the logest out is BarbaraAnn. She's my hero!!! Anyway, you should try to make it sometime.

When I was mega involved, we tried hard to split the large group into a "pre" and up to 6 months post and then have support for those of us past that. But we got such huge pre groups, it always went back to those pre-op questions. Most of us old timers ended up leaving out of sheer boredom. You can only pay it forward so much, at some point even the 1-2 year out folks will develop other issuses such as reactive hypoglycemia and the plastic surgery questions. Is Janel still leading it? She had more or less taken it over when I finally gave up. Great gal her and Jay:-) Anyways, was just curious, thanks for the reply:-)

Well, it started at Pres, but about a year or two ago, it moved to Grace Church. Most of the members are post op. Many of us are one, two, or more years out. We have a really good group. Come by!

Is this the same suport group that met at Prebytarian on Harper? I was a member 5 years go,but there was not much for those of us who are post op.......
Topic: Reconstructive Surgeons
Anyone know of any reconstructive surgeons who are willing to help me battle my insurance company? I have Presbyterian. I NEED to have some skin removed and want to see if I can get the insurance to pay for it since I cant afford it right now. I have documented rashes and have a hard time exercising with all the excess skin between my legs, any help would be sooooo appreciated.
