Cowgrl is fine......... I am a try blu cowgrl down to the bone. In my (way) younger days I use to rodeo and was also in the Military stationed in Germany and that is where I met my husband "A Rodeo Clown"... I was coming out of the arena after running barrels and I wrestled with that darn horse until my blouse came un buttoned and - my rodeo clown- just so happened to be opening the gate and the gentlemen that he is politly said "Maam, your blouse is opened!!.... and of course that was love at 1st site............. So, cowgrl is me............ forever and ever... even though I am getting older and older I still love to ride horses...
Hint, it is not up at the Crest.......... I work with a software computing group and currently we are building (they are) the software for the antennas that are being sent over to chile..... Got any clues?
My boss is out of town for a couple of weeks so it get real dead here so that is why I have time to goof off................
Congratulations to your D in Law......... I love photos like that.... they are so pure and priceless. I am not good with the camera and as a matter of fact I think I am taking a picture and darn if I don't notice that the flash hasn't gone off so my picture didn't take on my digital camera and then when i go to view the pictures there is nothing........ sometimes I think 1/4 hymers is really sneaking up on me fast..
Congratulations to you........ wow 75 pounds that is a lot for only four months that is so awesome... 2 wonderful.......
I started as a light weight and I had surgery in Nov 07 and have lost 66lbs and have 3 lbs left to my goal which I think will never ever get here cause I have been here at this weight for months..
Guess I really need to write everything down again... I am exercising every day and actually twice yesterday (I watched biggest looser and it really motivates me so I exercised while watching it).
I feel great with my 66 lb loss, I am no longer on cholesterol meds of meds for my diabetes. My liver tests are normal along with all of my other tests. I love wearing size 4's because I skipped all those sizes when I was growing up, and I love my husband getting ansie when I wear tight pants........ (he use to walk beside me and now he walks behind me) What's the deal.....
it isn't like I have a butt anymore.... I love being thin........ only wish I didn't have the saggy baggy skin...........
have a good day....

Hey there cowgrl! (Don't mean to pry, but do you have a first name that you like to go by or would you rather stick with Cowgrl?)
We haven't, and most likely won't, make it to the SF this year. My husband is working out of town and had to leave a bit earlier than expected. I'm not into rides or stuff like that but I do enjoy looking at the exhibits. My sweet little daughter-in-law entered some photos she took in the San Juan County Fair and won a first and second place! I was so proud of her! It was the first time she had ever entered anything so to say she was pretty excited about those ribbons is an understatement. She had some absolutely beautiful photos that she had taken of a butterfly on a flower. She had managed to get super close to the little winged creature and snap a couple of gorgeous shots.
Girl, I understand all too well about those teenage boys, I had one! Thank goodness my son only gave me a few headaches but there were times that I wanted to snatch his head off and replace it with a bowling ball because the bowling ball had more sense than he did! I think the maddess I got at him was over a girlfriend he had (let's just call her Skank, that's how I always referred to her!). Long story short, the girl was using him and milking him for every penny he had! I finally had enough when my son told me he was going to use a chunk of his savings to fly HER to Dallas so she could visit "a friend"... who was a GUY! HELLLLO?!? I very calmly stood in front of my son, never raised my voice but let him have it with both barrels! I said things to him that I had never said to him, shocking myself! I remember his eyes getting as big as dinner plates! The next day we had a long talk and he told me "Mom, I thought you had turned into Satan!" HAHA! Looking back, I said some pretty harsh things to him that night but he needed to hear them. Thank the good Lord that girl became history! He is married now to a beautiful little lady who is absolutely crazy about him, and he feels the same about her. They will hit their four year anniversary in a couple of days.
About your question (When I see someone obese do I want to share WLS with them?).... yes, I do. I was in the Verizon store a few weeks ago and there was a beautiful young lady there who must have been in the range of 300 to 350 pounds. She was absolutely gorgeous but she struggled to move around and you could tell her weight bothered her (she kept tugging on her top, pulling it down over her stomach, yanking on her pants, etc). I was sitting on a bench and she came to sit next to me so I scootched over to be polite. When she sat down she some what sat on my leg a bit. She was so embarrassed, said she was sorry and turned about as red as an apple. I tried to make her feel better, told her it wasn't a problem and tried to dismiss the whole thing by changing the topic. My heart broke for that young lady as I know perfectly well how she felt. I wanted to take her by the hand, lead her outside to a quiet area and visit with her about WLS but I had no idea how she would perceive me.
Since my surgery on 05-29-08 I have lost about 75 pounds... I still have quite a ways to go but that 75 pounds has made a world of difference in my life. As selfish and shallow as this sounds it is such an amazing feeling to walk into a store and not be the heaviest person there... to buy something off the rack and not have to shop in the specialty stores.... to "blend in" because I'm not that "OMG, She's Fat!" girl. And in that same moment of feeling amazing my heart breaks for those who are suffering with all the extra weight they are carrying and don't know how or where to start the WLS process.
Ok, now you have me curious... where in the world do you live that you have goats, cows, chickens and horses? And what in the world do you do for a living? Hmmmm, you said you are "goofing off amongst all these giant antennas"... are you up at the crest? If so, I am soooo jealous, it's beautiful up there!
Katherine
p.s.... about those grumpy days... I had one the other day and it was a *****! My sweet hubby gave me a hug, kissed my forehead and then ran to the nearest exit just so he wouldn't get caught in the path!

Kelly, that will be $200 for that little session on the couch! haha! In all seriousness, doesn't it feel great to be able to actually MOVE and not have to worry about running our of air and stamina. And as far as actually living and not simply existing, wow, what an amazing feeling! It's funny, I thought I was living for so many years but I was really just breathing and taking up space. I didn't have much going in the emotion department. Too many years in law enforcement left me a bit cynical and the extra poundage I was walking around with was like a block of cement around my neck.
Like you, my home is my nest and I want anyone who passes through my door to feel. I think one of the best compliments is when a friend comes by they help themself to a drink of tea or whatever else they may find in the fridge.
How did the school uniform work out for you last night? Lord, don't tell me you wore bobby-socks instead of the thigh highs for Dan's little birthday present! And did you hit it big at the casino? No matter what, I sure hope you had a great time and that Dan had the best birthday ever (he's such a sweetie!).
Now, about the "easier to wipe my butt" thing.... hmmm, YOU know that I have it made in that department! Hell, I don't even have to sit down! haha! TMI!!! You go girl!

Topic: RE: Hotels in El Paso?
Hi sweetie! Im so excited for you!!
Im originally from El Paso and we go back every 2-3 months to visit our family and friends and we usually stay at the Embassy or at the Raddison. Both are pretty nice, but are over $100. This last time we went 2 weeks ago we decided to stay at the Comfort Inn because Del Sol patients get a discount and only pay $50 per night. The hotel room itself was ok, and had some remodeling done, but the bathroom was disqusting! I wouldnt call myself a clean freak, but I am a really clean person and that bathroom was horrible. My parents and I were talking about it, and we were like... "I couldnt imagine coming here after I had my surgery because it wasnt that nice." But for the price it was great... They also had a pretty good breakfast that we couldnt eat of course..lol. But my husband and my baby liked it.
Ooo and when we were released from the hospital they wanted us to stay in town over night to be on the safe side, so my mom got us a room at the Wyndham(used to be hilton) by the airport, and it was great! It was a two room suite and it was two really comfortable chairs to sit in a a pull out sofa. I couldnt lay down and my dad couldnt either so we slept in those chairs and it was great! I think she got the room for $117 a night.

Hey Kat,
Haven't gone to the SFair yet....... don't really feel like dealing with all those people and Most of ALL---- all that food. I use to pig out on turkey legs, buttered corn, funnel cake, navajo tacos, yup all those no-no's............. So why go to the fair? I have horses, cows, chickens, and nasty skinky old goat (not my husband) at home that I can go out and pet if I feel like seening animals... ha ha...
Might just pass the fair this year since we went last year and maybe just wait a couple of weeks and go to the balloon fiesta....... Last year we went and after driving an hour they cancelled it because of the wind.......... oh well........ still got to eat a cinnamon roll which was delicious..
............... promise I/we will make an effort to go up to Abq for the next get together... I want to see if everyone goes through grumpy days like me....... Of course, maybe it cause I have a teenager that is a total pain in my skinny butt........ he loves to argue about everything.... Too bad it is a no no to kick him in the butt because if I could get away with it then I would do it cause now I can kick that high......... move over Chuck Norris cause I can move faster, Jump Higher, and kick higher than what I could have done a year ago. Ha/
My top five things--
1. I don't see food as being a priority in my life.
2. My energy level is way way up.
3. My selfesteem is better than it has ever been.
4. I actually enjoy exercising and it is great that I can get up on my horse without a chair.
5. I have more compassion for people that I see that are over weight because I know what life was before rny and I hated it.
My question to you----- is---- When you see someone obese don't you just want to share WLS with them? I see many people that I would like to share with them but how do you just go up and say....... "hey have you heard of WLS"? I have no clue How I would approach WLS to them but I know it would be so worth it if they did it.
(did that make sense) sorta coffee logged..... since surgery I really crave coffee....
have a great day!
I am hear at work......... goofing off amongst all these giant antennas...

Renae,
Sorry, I can't help you out with the hotel information (I had my surgery in Flagstaff), but I wanted to remind you of the meet and greet this Saturday at 7:30. Sure hope you can make it! You'll be able to meet lots of people who can offer all kinds of support as you start your journey.
