Hi Ann,

I'm sorry you aren't feeling good.  There is a ton of help on these boards.  Go to the bastric bypass boards and you'll find lots of support and advise.  I do think if you can get in your liquids and not get dehydrated you'll feel alot better.
I had stomach stapling 19 yrs ago and still remember feeling like someone smacked me witha 2x4.  I got better and started feeling good about 1 month out.  Funny how I still remember that when I can't remember what I did yesterday!!!

Do you live in NM?  Let me know how your doing,  Darlene

Hi Darlene!

I live in Los Lunas and commute to ABQ daily. My primary, Marilyn Newby, with ABQ Healthpartners at the Montgomery Cinic suggested that I have the lapband procedure at my annual physical. She has a few other patients who have had success with it. She is a very caring person. She is very supportive and has worked closely with me and the staff at Las Palmas/Del Sol (El Paso) over the past six months to obtain approval from the insurance company (Cigna). I will have my surgery tomorrow.  Give her a try.

Once on UTube, I read of a woman who had the gastric bypass, gained weight back, then had the lapband procedure. It worked for her.

I may be interested in joining a group.....Keep us posted.

Help me Lord Jesus to trust in you with all my heart, not leaning on my own understanding.......

Topic: Hello and Any Advice Would be Helpful
Hello, I'm new here. I've been checking out the website and what not for a little while, but finally decided to come here for some advice and support. I had my gastric bypass surgery 2 weeks ago and I'm having what I consider a rough time. I felt okay post-op, until about a week afterwards and then for several days I felt like a truck had run me over. I guess I'm just having a rough time with the weekness, and the foods and liquids I can take in. I feel like I can barely get in fluids, everything tastes nasty. Water even tastes gross. The Sonic Rt 44 cup of crushed ice is my only savior sometimes. I usually eat a full cup of ice each day. I've tried drinking the crystal light stuff and it's okay, kool-aid wth splenda is okay too, but I can't take in much of it and so I know I'm not getting my recommended fluid intake. Food is not going in so easily either. I keep hearing that everyone is different and it takes time, but I just hate feeling bad all the time. I don't have a lot of pain, occasionally on my left side near my ribs and I've only had a couple of days of nausea. I just would like to hear from others what can I do to feel better.  Any advice would help. I can really even get my protein because the thought of it makes me want to gag. Help please!

Cowgrl,
Nice list.  Funny thing is, the most simple of the items on my list, like push-ups and climbing a rope, are the ones I want most.  I think it will be a pretty emotional experience for me the first time I do a push-up; I'm 32 and i've never been able to do one.

Thanks for posting!

I know that there are support groups in Las Cruces but I don't know of any in ALB. I would be interested in attending one in Alb along with a couple of other people I know.

That would be fun.......
