I don't know if I'll be able to attend right now due to work/childcare.
But I am interested in the group.

Do you have an email list or anything for the group for reminders and updates?

Topic: Would anyone be interested in an Albuquerque surgeon???
I had GBP in 2003.  I've been very successful with it and am so glad I had it done.  But that was in another state.  After relocating to NM, I was sad to see that there are no surgeons in here doing any type of bariatric surgery.  I thought, surely, someone would at least be doing LapBanding.  But NO!!

So, I am putting together a study for the possibility of a surgeon doing some bariatric surgery in Albuquerque.  At the moment this is just a concept that I'm working really hard on convincing surgeons to consider.

I don't have a financial interest in this - I'd just like to see the option of staying in state be open to more people.

Would you or someone you know be interested in this type of opportunity?

I would like to ask a few questions - you can email replies to me or post here.  I WILL NOT BE COLLECTING ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION.  Your email and/or user name will not be saved or used in any way.  All responses are totally confidential.

This is strictly an overview for my information portfolio.

Thanks for your help!

1.  Are you interested in having WLS in the state of NM.
2. What is your age and BMI
3. BMI
4. What type of surgery would you want to consider?
5. Do you have diabetes? (yes/no)
6. Do you have other health concerns besides obesity? (yes/no)
7. Do you have insurance that covers WLS? (yes/no)
8. If you were not covered by insurance, would you be willing to pay out-of-pocket for WLS?
9. What do you think WLS would cost?  (aproximate figure)
10.  Would you be willing to participate in a post surgery support group as part of your treatment?

Hi there it's been a long time since I have been on the boards and I know that I am not in New Mexico but it seems that you might have the answer to my question.  First I am 3 years out and have gained 20 pounds over the last year and I am frieghtened so I thought that I would do this 5 day Pouch test but can you tell me what we are testing the pouch for as I have not found any information on that?

I printed out all of the directions so I will start but am really curious as to the answer to this.  Will it tighten my pouch back up if it is so stretched out?

Thanks for any info you can give.

The most glaring problem is my lack of exercise for last week. I just couldn't motivate myself to do it. First I blamed the depression prior to having my two ( perfectly healthy before the bad dentist drilled them away to nothing for a bridge) teeth pulled, then I blamed the pain and medications after having them pulled, and finally I blamed the need to work overtime to recoup some of our financial losses from the bad dentist. ( all of the missed work and extra daycare resulting from the extra appointments to normal dentist trying to correct the bad dentist work. You can guess how well that went) I have allot of excuses for not exercising and not eating better but now I need to clean up and put away the cake from my pity party (there wasn't really any cake as I couldn't have eaten it anyway due to my teeth or lack there of) and get back on track. It is like my mother always said, "Yes, something bad happened to you. Now you have a choice, can sit around and let this person keep hurting you by continuing to feel sorry for yourself (and pretending to eat imaginary cake) or you can get up, dust yourself off and continue living your life the best you can thereby showing this person that you are stronger than anything they can do to you." Sounds nice and it makes sense,
