LOL...NO problem!  I think someplace like that would be a good choice.  We stayed at the Residence Inn on So. Loop 289.  It wasn't that expensive, but it wasn't cheap either.  Having a suite was nice, because I could rest in the bedroom while my husband watched tv in the living/dining area.  Also having a kitchenette helped too.
I live on the Hill too, and so do a couple of other people I know that had surgery with Doc Syn, so feel free to ask us any questions you may have.
I'm VERY excited for you to start this new journey!

LOL...you got me!  I meant hotel.  I think the best solution for me is instead of getting 2 rooms get a suite at someplace like TownePlace and go from there.

In your post you say "economical hospital", did you mean hotel?
I'm not really sure what hotel would be the most economical, but I think many of them offer discounts to people who are there for medical reasons.
Are you using Dr. Syn?  I will tell you that I believe him to be the VERY BEST, TOP OF THE LINE surgeon for gastric bypass.
He did mine a little more than 6 months ago.  I'm done 94 pounds so far.
Let me know if you would like any futher info.
I wish you the VERY best on your journey.

Can anyone recommend an economical hospital in Lubbock?  I have a friend that wants to be there for me while I am going through my surgery and the week after, but they will not allow me to pay for their hotel stay.  They do not have a lot of money, so I want to find someplace where it can be the least expensive for them as at all possible.

Congratulations!  I am glad to hear that you are doing well.  I was considering Dr Lara and Acosta, but am going to go with Dr. Syn in Lubbock.  I hope he does as well with me as Dr Lara did with you!

I have used Dr. Syn as my surgeon.  I had my surgery on July 20,09.  I have lost around 55 pounds.   I have not had any problems at all.  I found Dr. Syn very professional and really knows his craft.  I have had several friends before me use Dr. Syn and they are the ones *****ally hold him in great regards.   The surgery is the best thing that I have done for me.  If you can have this surgery go for it. Sure you will be alittle sore the 1st week but by the 3 week you as good a new.   Dr. Syn is a real good surgeon.  Ray

That is my take on him so far.  Thank you for your posting.  It is just reassuring to know that my impression of him is the same as someone that has been through it.
