Topic: Anyone have band surgery with Dr. Acosta?
Hi there, I am a bandster, two years out.  My original surgery was done by the kook, Dr. Frezza in Lubbock.  He has since long gone and I was lucky enough to be reassigned to Dr. Acosta for follow up visits and fills.  Well, he has diagnosed me with a band slip.  I am having surgery in two weeks in El Paso to correct this or get a new band.

Since my original surgery was not with him, I am not sure what his post surgery eating requirements will be.  I know they will give that to me when I go down to El Paso, but I would like to know ahead of time so that I can stock up.  For instance, with my original surgery I had to be on clear liquids for 2 weeks....a ridiculously long amount of time.  Can any of you tell me what Acosta will be asking me to do?  Thank you!!

Hi there!  I am new to the New Mexico forum but have been a member of OH since 2008.  I had a sleeve done in January of 2008.  The surgeon who did my sleeve has since left the country.  I suppose a lot of you know who he is without me mentioning names. I was very blessed when I got the good news that Dr. Syn would be following me.  I have seen him many times in the past year.  I have a failed sleeve and I will be having a revision to an RNY.  My insurance has already approved the procedure and I have to give credit to all the providers i've seen, Dr. Syn and to my wonderful case manager with my health plan.  It's great to know that there's support here in Albuquerque.

I have one question.  If any one recently had surgery with Dr. Syn how long does he require you to stay in Lubbock before you can come back to New Mexico?  We have a 5th wheel and will be parking it at the KOA just east of Lubbock but I was just curious.  Not sure if I should bring my pet with me or keep him at home. He's my cat but he's also my baby.  lol

Topic: Hi Everyone!
Hi all my fellow New Mexicans,

I just wanted to see how everyone is doing/feeling.  I really enjoyed the little snow we had in Albuquerque this past week.  I have a GI apt this week, I hope that the meds I was on cleared up my H Pylori so I can get my surgery done... that is my only hold up.  As soon as I get that cleared I get a surgery date!  Yay!

I had mine in July with his partner Dr Acosta and i have lost 117lb since my first consult. They are both very nice dr's my only complaint is how long the dr keeps you waiting i have waited as long as 4 hours for an appt because they schedule so many ppl at once or at least at the life center they do. The staff is nice and Becky is wonderful. Good luck to you I am sure everything will work out they usually stay on top of things.

Sorry, I worded that wrong.  I am about 4 weeks out from having surgery.  Just wondering how the hospital/stay was.   How was your visit, are you doing good?  Moved to soft foods has to be a good sign right!!

I stayed in the hospital about 3 days-not real impressed with the nursing care but oh well. I had my post op visit yesterday and got moved to soft and squishy foods so I'm thrilled!  Are you back to work yet?

JC,

I am sorry that you were positive for H Pylori too... that really sucks.  I have been on the meds for a week now and I feel good... funny thing is I didn't even notice I was feeling bad!  We will make it soon!  When I spoke to Del Sol on Tuesday they told me that most people will still be positive after their first round of meds and may need to do a second set so I have tried to prepare myself for that. Ugh right!  Hang in there we will get our WLS done.
