Congrats Andrea! I hope that that "head" thing will improve. I have a feeling that will be something that I will struggle with also when my surgery is done. My sister-in-law went through the same thing. She is lucky in that she has a support group that is lead by the psychologist that works with the bariatric surgeon in her area and it has been very good for her. Of course, just the support from others who have gone through or are going through the same thing helps too I think. Good Luck!

Topic: I've got a date!
Hello everyone! After 1 year of fighting with CIGNA
, and after 25 years with this company having no choice of another carrier, we got United Health Care and they okayed my surgery after only 2 weeks from the time my doctor applied for it!!!
My date is March 1st with Dr. McDaniel in Victoria, Texas. My sister-in-law had him do her surgery in June 2003 and she is at goal and looks and feels sooooooo wonderful. I'll be staying with her until I'm released to come back here and then my PCP will be working with Dr. McDaniel on monitoring me. I can hardly wait. I had truly lost all hope and was even suicidal for most of this past year, but I'm crying tears of joy now. I keep thinking of all the things I want to do when I get enough weight off, like go snow boarding!
I'm almost 48 years old and have been morbidly obese for 38 years, so I'm looking to make up lost time. I'll be seeing some of you at the meetings soon! This is such a terrific group!

Topic: Back from Surgery
Hi All,
Just thought I'd post and let you know that I was back from surgery and feeling pretty good. I saw the doctor on the 18th and had lost 15 pounds in the first week. I must say that was a big relief for the mental issue I was having with the small amount of food I'm eating. I know the small amount is plenty to make my stomach full but my head was really struggling with that being okay. I think I'm doing better with it now though. I hope everyone is doing okay.

Topic: RE: Albuquerque Support Group
Hi, I finally got my reassignment date to move to NM...I have to be at my new desk on March 21st. So I'll be moving the 2 weeks before that. I am looking forward to moving to Albuquerque altho I havn't lived in a big city for many years so I'll have to get used to traffic. I hope to be able to make it to the 3rd Wednesday's support group meeting. That will be the nice thing...I'm not close to a support group where I live now. I look forward to meeting all of you. If anyone has any advice on moving there I'd welcome it....I'll be working in the NE part of town and hope to find a place near there. I'll also need to find a Bariatric supportive PCP when I get there.
Hope to meet you in March...
Roseanna
